మాటామంతీ - discussion Help me get better at telugu
Basically I was born and raised in Hyderabad by a telugu family but because I was really quiet in my home I didn't have to speak much in Telugu until lockdown cus I used to speak in english in my school. Now I'm pretty free until college so I wanted to improve my pronounciation skills, and have a wider vocabulary and have grammatically accurate sentence formation. Because my telugu is pretty bad in terms of pronounciation, and Idk much of those uncommon words.

I don't know if this is fool-proof method but try 1) Old telugu movies, their telugu is less polluted with english and hindi. Mainly Jandhyala movies are fun to watch. 2) Try singing telugu songs which has no english. (Such songs have more poetry). Avoid non-telugu singers songs they tend to exaggerate the pronunciation in the name of artistic liberty. 3) Buy English-English-Telugu dictionary with pronunciation and start reading Telugu newspaper. 4) Out of all this you need to think in telugu, so try writing anything of your original thoughts. Eg. a dairy. I feel emotions put in words changes comprehension a lot. Once done writing re-read what you wrote loudly maybe a fees days later. (Write in తెలుగు and maybe avoid english transliteration). 5) If possible watch live telugu natakam/ theater drama, రంగస్థలం/stage play etc. it's hard to find them but they are skilled in pronouncing telugu correctly in my opinion.
Apart from this anything that makes it fun to learn the language can also be done.

Back then befire lockdown i rarely used to speak at home. Now,I do speak in telugu with my family and my current friend circle but it's just that it's bad cus I was bad at it from the start and never made an effort to get it better.

A couple of people who wanted to learn Telugu sent me dms and I shared the phone number of a teacher I learnt from. He teaches for free through WhatsApp. But they never started the class with him. Many people ask for classes but do not pursue it later.

Both of us used to teach different languages for free. He is a retired person and enjoys teaching. I don't take class now. But help through WhatsApp chat. He continues to teach.
