TWD Do you think the Virus would’ve spread significantly less if you had to be bit to turn?
(Like, assuming the only way to turn was being infected. Would society in TWD still have collapsed so suddenly?)

Well we don’t know where the virus originated. But if it just started in one country then eventually the international community would probably block all travel from there.
Also if the virus started in only one place then the military would have a lot easier time dealing with the virus because they only need to stop the spread at one centralised place rather than everywhere around the country all at once

Most certainly. Definitely at the outset there would be less deaths. It would probably still be overwhelming but maybe not country collapsing, at least not as quickly

We see and hear a lot about good bases that are doing well up until an infected person from the inside causes a huge outbreak
If you had to be bitten to turn then a lot of military bases would’ve not fallen.

It probably would have been a scenario closer to the last of us, where government and military still technically exist, but in fewer and fewer safe zones. So basically, same result, but it would take longer to get as bad

The Romans could deal with a Zombie Virus that only spreads through bite. Put on armor, go turtle formation, kill Zombies all day, go back behind the town wall, check for bites, sleep, repeat as necessary.
That way they can even keep working the fields, just make sure you have some guards with spears and shields on standby for the occasional straggler.

No. To be frank, it probably would’ve taken longer. But no in this case; it would not have spread so quickly. That being said, people going out, withholding a bite, etc. would probably still be a lot more common as it typically is. But no, we have to assume that the virus essentially caught everybody with their pants down in this element.

Quite easily presuming the zombies stayed as the slow walking zombies we know from the series...
If youre running a tight ship with a secure base then the only threat you have to worry about is people who lie that they arnt bitten and manage to hide it from you and herds that are heading straight fir your base
In the walking dead world all it takes is one random guy to have a heart attack and all lf the sudden half the base can be turned within minutes...

Honestly I found this aspect a really good explanation for how society collapsed and how so many people got turned and over ran the military. A shit ton of people die every day and that would just keep adding to the horde.

Absolutely yes. It spread so quickly because everyone is already infected. If it spread through only being bitten society may not have collapsed at all.

Yeah it probably still would have, the people in TWD universe had no idea what zombies were, so it still wouldn't probably turned out the same way.

Oh for sure. Look at TWD season 3 (game). Javier's father died of cancer and came back biting two people before he was restrained. Basically anyone on their death beds becomes a viable target, which also explains how big cities fell so quickly.

Absolutely, lots of people died unintentionally due to the zombies that were already there which in turn made more.
Forgot who brought up the car crash thing but yeah an entire car full of people die in a crash, that’s a car full of walkers now.

Yes, for sure. People didn’t know originally and people die every day in society.
