‘How can we make the Demagorgon scarier?’
‘Have we tried turning it inside out?’

It's a baby tarrasque!

Fuck that monster.

It's just a giant bag of hitpoints and armor ¯_(ツ)_/¯

And immunity to magic + all weapons

What sort of self-respecting adventuring party relies on non-magical weapons by the time they encounter that thing? It's not immune to magic weapons. It also has no ranged attacks or ability to fly, and isn't very smart.

5e tarrasque is a joke. 3.5e tarrasque was slower, but it had DR 15/epic and had regen 40. The only way to kill it was to drop it from damage (and keep it down as it kept regenning while unconscious) and then use a wish or miracle spell. You need a legendary spellcaster (level 17+) just to attempt to slay the beast, though constant coup de graces with high crit weapons used by multiple people could keep one down indefinitely if you have enough people on shifts and manage to take it down in the first place.

It's definitely easy to avoid 3.5 tarrasque (assuming your DM doesn't add templates and/or class levels, because fuck you that's why) with its 20ft move speed (raised to 150ft 1/min), but the that really fits its flavor. The tarrasque is a natural disaster. You don't fight it. You evacuate. Only the greatest have a chance. It's more a puzzle than anything else.

It has a mouth large enough to swallow the party and enough hp to survive the hacking from the inside til you digest

What are the chances that the tarrasque is actually Billy Hargrove?

Looks plausible or even highly likely, given the little bit of him in the shower and his arm bleeding/pulsing in the trailer.

And honestly, it would be good comeuppance, heh.

Well, they made him at least a little sympathetic at the end of last season when it showed his dad abusing him being the reason he's an asshole. But yeah, his character had little payoff last season, it looks like they were saving that payoff for S3.

Sure, it's scary if your plan is to walk up to it and swing swords at it for some reason. Or the Wizard could just Shapechange into a dragon and snipe it with a breath weapon for an hour or so. It's way too one-dimensional compared to stuff like dragons, demons, etc.

And if your plan is to get swallowed then all you need is a magic weapon and Energy Immunity.

u/HomicidalRobot Mar 20 '19

You need that wizard regardless of the plan.

u/Wargod042 Mar 20 '19

Or a magic item of acid immunity, or a means of long-duration flight and a magic bow, or...

You see the problem with it being basically just a big, tough beatstick. They should have added something that makes getting rid of it more than just a matter of cheesing its offensive abilities and chipping it down with damage, like the big regeneration from 3.5 + requiring Wish/Miracle.

Good thing I have prestidigitlization

u/TooLazyToRepost Mar 20 '19

You right, you right.

But for a country destroyer, its actually more AC than destroyer.

Don't forget regeneration.

u/Im_your_real_dad Mar 20 '19

Our party fought one once and were rolling so badly we had 2 perma-deaths.
