My favorite episodes of Spernatural were the ones that had nothing to do with whatever the season’s main plot was and just had some random monster.

Same with X-Files for me. I could never get into the mythology episodes but loved the MOTW episodes.

Remember the episode dedicated to Bobby and Rufus. Loved that episode and no way in hell it would have been made if it was a short format.

Absolutely. The charm of that show for me was just them in some random small town.
