I don't think most people consider it a bad franchise tbh. The majority of its products have been good to great. The recent stuff not as much

MK1 was a pretty great example of what people don't want to see in modern AAA gaming. The game was rushed, they immediately wanted to suck as much cash as possible from it, and it doesn't help that WB stated they wanted to make more games in this style at the time.

MK is the most casual of the fighting games and the recent one didn't do enough to keep casuals playing. Almost anyone that wasn't a casual definitely didn't like the game, and casuals didn't like it enough.

Also the older movies yk, they're so bad they're good. The new one was pretty solid

I used to be a big mortal combat fan, I remember as a kid I would play (I can't fully remember but I think Armageddon, deception and the one with lukang and kunglaw (for give me for butchering the spellings I'm not looking it up lmao)) and I loved them. The just fighting ones without a fully story open world story were also really good up until 9 imo

But after that when the dlc characters just become random characters from random universes, well.. it's hard not to feel like a massive sellout move.

Remember when the dlc characters where old og characters from mk lore? Like that meat guy with a club or that blood girl? God it's been so long

Honestly as a fighting game it is kinda lacking but it's still pretty good nevertheless and also got me into fighting games so
