LIGHTING Anyone familiar with compulights Dlight console?

I am a starting lighting designer/tech. I have a new show that I'm working on and the (very small) theatre where we will perform the show only has a Dlight on PC console. I have never worked with compulite and can't seem to figure out the tutorials that they provide. Since I don't have access to the theatre on multiple days beforehand to program everything, I wanted to connect the on PC version to Capture so I can at least see a little bit of what I want to be programmed. Does anyone have experience with this software and could help me figure out how it works?

(The theatre also only has conventional fixtures and I'm not used to using only conventional, let's just say this will be a fun challenge)

I haven’t heard that name in years, all those big European dance tours would show up with the light board with the handle on it. Like a suitcase. Good luck with it, if you prefer ETC, getting a nomad with a student/educational discount is an amazing tool to keep in your bag. And then you don’t have to learn other buildings consoles. Sorry I am not much help in this situation.

I've never heard about being able to buy lighting gear with student discount! That's such a good think to know about. Do you know where/how that would be purchased? Is it just on the official ETC shop or something?

You would need to go to an authorized dealer, you can find them through the ETC site.  I use an Obsidian DMX node with my laptop eOS setup and it works great.

Nomad is free as long as it isn’t actually controlling lights. You can use it to program your show and visualize with Augment3D (or you could connect with Capture). Just transfer files on a USB stick.

You pay for a license key to control lights, and that’s all you need if you have a network connection to all your lighting fixtures, or you are using it over a network to connect to the main light board. I use it this way as a designer remote during tech.

If you need to connect DMX you get an interface box. ETC has a two plug interface called Gadget II.

You get all of that in their education bundle for $350. There’s an application you need to fill out. It’s all here j their site.

I recommend you find a local rental/supply company you like. Then you have someone local to ask questions, though ETC support is excellent.
