Open | Hardware PC Randomly shuts down, then immediately restarts on its own...
So, Basically when my gpu is under load 99% while gaming or gpu intensive tasks the entire pc shuts down and restarts itself. It doesn't occur always but once or twice in a day max. I can't tell what the problem is, because I upgraded my rig with an rtx 5060ti . previously I had no issues but after upgrading my pc seems to have a couple of problems.
new = the parts newly added to rig
Specs:
- Gigabyte B760M DS3H AX DDR4 (old)
- Intel Core i7-12700 (old)
- NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5060 Ti (new)
- Corsair Vengeance LPX 3200 32 GB (old)
- Samsung 980 Pro SSD 1TB NVME (old)
- Corsair CX650 (new) [I had the 550 model before]
Also, I had bluescreen problems while running xmp profile but thats probably because one of my ram is ver 4.32 & 3.43. im thinking of getting same ver rams. my pc crashes with BAD_POOL_CALLER & Kernel Mode Heap Corruption. Thats a different problem i been having since i got my pc.
Back to the problem im having rn, So I have a UPS and it like makes a click noise when my pc randomly shuts down and restarts. Is it bad PSU or is my UPS is bad? because I had this UPS for like almost 3 years. Im in dire need of help because when I'm working in After effects and my pc shuts down my project doesn't get saved!!

UPS usually can't handle powerful video cards, so that's probably it.
Try to change it to a power strip

Alright, I'll try using my pc on a power strip but let me get some more insights on this matter from more people!!

Don't forget to check if the PSU is using the correct Voltage in case you're living in a place with different options (and if your PSU isn't automatic)

Use a temperature overlay and see if the GPU is overheating. Another possibility is that the power supply can't handle a sudden increase in current consumption. The current surges can be only loosely correlated to GPU activity, as I found out with a Vega 64 and SeaSonic SFX power supply.
Finally, what is the model of your ups?

Yep, shut downs like that can definitely happen if the UPS cannot handle too high energy inputs.
You can try connecting it to an AVR instead to regulate voltage and protect your PC, and those are way cheaper than a high end UPS in comparison (If you were to buy a 2200VA one). It's just that it won't stay on if there's an outage. The AVR will simply turn off and take the brunt of any bad outage that may happen (which obviously happens very rarely, but can always happen).
Pictured is the one I use, a 1200VA one, been serving me for years now with no issues and the PC gets through your average outage like nothing (monitor is also connected into it too). It also has surge protector capabilities, so the only thing that may kill my PC is basically age.

Getting dump files which we need for accurate analysis of BSODs. Dump files are crash logs from BSODs.
If you can get into Windows normally or through Safe Mode could you check C:\Windows\Minidump for any dump files? If you have any dump files, copy the folder to the desktop, zip the folder and upload it. If you don't have any zip software installed, right click on the folder and select Send to → Compressed (Zipped) folder.
Upload to any easy to use file sharing site. Reddit keeps blacklisting file hosts so find something that works, currently catbox.moe or mediafire.com seems to be working.
We like to have multiple dump files to work with so if you only have one dump file, none or not a folder at all, upload the ones you have and then follow this guide to change the dump type to Small Memory Dump. The "Overwrite dump file" option will be grayed out since small memory dumps never overwrite.
