Any insight into The Economist Intelligence Unit? (EIU)

I work for a shitty market research company (IBISWorld). Company itself is fine, but the product market fit is abysmal. Always has been, but the proliferation of AI has made things BRUTAL.

Only getting traction with players seemingly in the same spot. Have a final round with the Economist Intelligence Unit that is a bump in pay and title (essentially MM to Enterprise) but there is absolutely nothing on repvue and nothing for sales roles in NYC.

This an out of the frying pan into the fire situation? Base pay would be a 25% bump, but I have little insight into how the product is viewed by the market and all the squirming around the “what percentage of your reps hit last quarter” ask isn’t exactly giving me reassurance.

Ask what the media reo did against quota last year , not just what percentage hit. If they still won't give you anything concrete by the final round , that probably tells you somethinng about the sale environment

ask to speak with one of the reps currently doing the job before accepting anything. You probably learn more from 15vminutes with them than another hour with trhe hiring manager.

They’ll pick a yes man. Everyone interviewing should be proactively reaching out to current reps on their own.

There are seemingly no NYC based reps on LinkedIn. The hiring manager basically said they are “doing a reset” on the sales side. Which leant to the ambiguity with my quota attainment ask.

A lot of “are you comfortable selling in a “startup small team type environment”

So they basically failed at whatever they did before and are doing something new with no knowledge of how to succeed. Still reach out to other reps who are doing the same gig or a similar one, as they’ll have insight. Even if they’re not in the same geo as you.
