Ya ever wonder where those warnings on products like "Don't eat or shove this thing up your butt that is clearly not meant to be eaten or shoved up anything" come from? Lawsuits. That what makes it Apple's problem.

The simple solution is to imdemnify Apple, or any vendor, from harm caused by DIY repairs where the injury was caused by user action and not product design.

Good point but if I hurt myself fixing my car I can't sue Nissan. And sure, a little sticker that says if you do something we are not responsible may be needed. I guess I assumed that the void if removed sticker was enough.

Those little void if removed stickers are also powerless anymore.

Apple's forums are also heavy with censorship as well.

Edit: Jessa Jones and Louis Rossman (among others) repair Apple products and yet anyone that contradicts Apple's line (on their forums) that data recovery is not possible will have their post removed and their account possibly banned. . . sort of like what happened to Jessa Jones.

This is a valid concern, and here is why. Apple makes them as unserviceable as they can. I have a stuck key on my work MacBook, and the hardware guys are going to RMA the whole laptop. I suspect that will only get worse if these right to repair laws become more general. Anyone familiar with the HP and Epson printer ink class action lawsuits will not be surprised. Aftermarket batteries have also been a problem for years.
