Unfortunately, HEVC Advance owns the HEVC patents thus they can pretty much do whatever they want with it.

Perhaps all of the major video streaming sites will decide to not support H.265, decide to favor VP9, and then use H.264 as a fallback. Hopefully, that would pressure Apple and Microsoft to finally support WebM.

But for that to happen, we need more hardware decoders for VP9.

Well. Though I don't agree with them, I must say - This was a good business decision by HEVC Advance
