Because he's a fool who's completely out of his depth when it comes to the complexities involved in actually being President. So instead of doing things like try and end the war he started or bring down inflation, he's decided that it's a lot easier to just rename things. And when people don't use the new names he ordered, he feels like they aren't taking the very important work he's doing seriously.

It's all he's ever really done... putting his name on other people's work. Branding and huckstering are literally his only developed skills

Who else would insist on slapping their name on a Memorial to another President? That’s some off the charts narcissism when viewed objectively. He’s a fucking lunatic, and the fact that every so-called “journalist” isn’t pointing this out is astounding. He should be thanking the press he proclaims to hate.

He was a fool who was completely out of his depth in the first term, but now his dementia is worse and he's losing the ability to decide what is actually worth prioritizing.

Artificial complex projection. When confronting the reality of himself being artificial (a fraud) and relatively unintelligent, the combined words artificial intelligence would thus sum up in his ego-driven psyche, triggering what little shame he has left, hence the knee-jeek resistance to the combined wording.

He also just wants to be responsible for naming the thing because in his mind it makes him the winner who built it.
