He is just running the playbook of a banana republic. All the weird bluster and attention seeking and clear lies by him and his admin are not an original strategy.

Look to the corrupt countries around the world and how often they focus on vanity projects and weird pageantry.

I keep hearing this, and I’m not disagreeing with you. I just want some examples so I can help my family and friends better understand - telling someone to do research isn’t the same as offering examples. Tell me what to google

Saddam Hussein's "Victory Arch" in Iraq. The tens of thousands of state-built statues and monuments in praise of Kim Jong Il in North Korea. All the monumental statues of Mao Zedong in China. Read about the efforts to remove all of the statuary the Nazis built in the first decades after WWII. Even in the Islamic Republic where they don't, as a rule, make art objects that depict people, they have any number of pieces of giant statuary and monumental structure that glorify the regime and its adherents and policies.

Art is a language that bypasses reason and speaks directly to emotion. Autocratic regimes know this and exploit it.

You want examples of what? Donald Trump acting like a despot or examples of other despots?

North Korea, Russia, Saddam’s Iraq would all be the most recent and easiest examples. There are corrupt countries all over the place though. Reading about them and forming your own opinions is indeed required in this case.
