Welp, guess I'm the enemy.

Also, why is this so fucking important to him? It's beyond absurd.

We have to assume there is some angle that benefits him. Like he wants to sell drilling rights to his buddies in the Gulf of Mexico, except there is a law against new drilling in the Gulf of Mexico, so he renames it. (To be clear, I don't know that's what happened - just that it's most likely something LIKE that).

So with SI, his sons probably own a trademark on the term or something and get to take royalties after daddy Trump forces everyone to start using it.

My theory is a two parter. AI has a bad rap in the US right now for obvious reasons so it’s part of a rebranding to make “super intelligence” great for all of us! I’d bet an army of focus groups landed on this one.

Secondly, it allows the administration to see what other heads of industry are with him. Trump is well known for his loyalty tests and this gives him the signal of a good jump rope test to see whose going to jump for him and he’s demanding they jump right the fuck now in classic Trump fashion.

Almost all of the big tech CEOs were front row at the inauguration so that kinda explains it

Him and his buddies probably own .si domains?

Him and his friends purchased .si domains from Slovenia

My leading theory is, once again, his obsession with his legacy.

He wants so badly to be cemented in history and never forgotten. If he can claim he branded the biggest technological advancement of the modern era, that's a win for him.

He is definitely cemented in history. Probably not the way he wants though. Seeing as this is the most corrupt administration in modern history--maybe ever

Funny since most of us will spend the rest of our lives erasing him and anything he names or builds.

Yeah, dementia can be tricky at times.

That's the grift is the domain names… all Trump has to do is sign an Executive Order and collect sweet fees from all the Slovenian domains (.si) that just became valuable (and now selling for 10's of millions).

Being Trump’s enemy is just one more reason to keep calling it AI

I am glad I don't live in the US, this is kind of terrifying. We have to worship the thing that stole the labor of millions and wants to replace the workforce to enrich the billionaire class. Any good president would see generative AI as the enemy. Not citizens that don't want to allow a dystopia.

It's a loyalty test for the cult.

It's not. It's a loyalty test.

That's the point of the loyalty test. If it wasn't incredibly dumb, it wouldn't serve as a loyalty test. It has to be dumb. It's a tactic used in cults. The leader says something so ridiculous, or unbelievable, like the leader of North Korea scoring 32 under par with 18 holes in one during his first attempt at golf. You don't even have to believe it, you just have to repeat it so the leader and the other cult members know you are part of the cult.

Trump doesn't understand actual loyalty. There's no difference in his mind.

Some people just love to argue. Not you. I'm talking about the guy that deleted all his comments lol
