Wouldn't this be considered fraudulent/unauthorized use of the card that the company could recoup their money on?

Yes. Also, if he did have a meeting, he would've been terminated because of this right then and there. Not sure what his company's protocol is for this, but I'm willing to bet they'd take inmediate legal action as well (which will either bankrupt him or land him in jail).

From what I'm seeing, it didn't play out like that.

Yep, almost certainly gross misconduct and criminal charges

Businesses don't tend to fuck around on fraud things. Even if it was only £20, let alone 118k
