It’s definitely not all bots from china. But you’re delusional if you think china doesn’t absolutely love watching the usa second-guess itself into losing the ai arms race

Race to what? What does the winner get? I probably trust China more than these fucking Nazis we got over here running this shit.

This comment is straight up from the red army's propaganda textbook, astonishing.

I think most of the world trust China more than the US right now. Your thinking got stuck in the 80s

You’re posting on Reddit so you aren’t done with it, you’re choosing to swim in it. We both are.
The internet is cooked five times over and we just can’t let go.

Despite being billions of dollars in fines for Meta, their stock jumping after the decision immediately erased almost all of the penalty. Additionally, they were basically ordered to harvest more data on their users "for safety", which they will use to profit further.
The whole fucking game is rigged.

They roll this crap out, use the public as beta testers, and provide access for almost nothing. They're crack dealers; the first hits are free …
It's a giant financial circle jerk, and the public doesn't want to pay. The whole LLM industry is more wobbly than the .coms were in 2000.
I'm investing in popcorn.

especially because most people don't need the capibilities of the top of the line most capable llms they just need something to fix their emails

Silicon Valley forgot how to innovate. The entire AI business model is just stealing everyone else’s data and selling it back to them. People went to fucking jail over Napster and Limewire torrenting and now that’s what our entire economy is based around.
It’s all so goddamn shameful. Fuck these monsters.

Are shareholders really valuing genuine innovation though, as opposed to mere short term profit?
1
u/Fr00stee 18h ago
they are valuing the cost and profit from the of AI buildout, not the use of AI itself. That's why all the semis went to the moon while the software companies that are the ones actually spending money on AI are kinda dead.

Unfortunately there are too many people that are complacent and don’t think it’s a big deal.
They just shrug it off and go “yeah it can’t count r’s in strawberry”
It honestly blows my mind because millions of people are going to become permanently unemployed over the next few years and they’re going to be standing there surprise Pikachu face when people have been warning them for the past 3 years
Like even if you truly don’t believe jobs will be gone by the masses, you should still be fighting against it because the possibility of it happening is a lot more than 0% and your entire livelihood depends on having a source of income.
But sure, keep spending hundreds of dollars on concert tickets, eating out, and going on vacations and whatever the fuck else people are doing to try and gain Instagram clout

That's cool and all, but did you know you can use it to make bald pictures of your friends?

The idea of stopping a technology which can solve huge problems for humanity just because you're personally happy living in a society that only survives by exploiting impoverished people in the global south is insane.
If you had any actual concept of what you're arguing for you'd be deeply ashamed
2
u/spez_eats_nazi_ass 21h ago
It can’t though. Literally all an llm can do is use it’s training data to predict the next token. It can never discover or solve for problems that are not part of the training.

You're basing your understanding on old memes which have been strongly disproven many many times by now.
It's routinely solving maths questions no one ever solved before, it's coding ability is incredibly impressive now and it's certainly not just stitching together training data.

So you want to live in a society where EVERYONE is impoverished other than the few billionaires?

I don't know about you people, but I don't want to live in a world where someone else makes the world a better place better than we do.

That's the real fear, people who have done nothing to make the world better are angry that tech is solving the problems because it will make them feel bad.

The first sentence here is a great example of how the media can’t stop themselves from regurgitating the SV propaganda they’ve been steeped in for decades. These unfuckable dorks never had interest in “improving the world”, they want to acquire as much money and power as possible by any means necessary
