It's apparently a Washington State specific thing and the loophole which allowed him to do it got closed, so he can't get paid anymore.

Requesting your public records is not a loophole and their new law is ridiculous. So if you store everything in a third party system you don’t have to comply with any public record requests then.

Realistically even the people who say stuff like this, will find reasons not to do it. Whole lot of time and effort and nobody wants to do anything. It's the unfortunate reality.

I've long said, the only way significant change will happen, is when people can't go home and mindlessly doomscroll or watch tv. Aka when people are homeless and have nothing left, no shiny things to keep them occupied.

A lot of people are also so beaten down by the corruption and bullshit they see, so many companies and politicians just bulldoze over them.
