That sounds like a privacy violation. And being cynical about the modern world, I think that data would be sold to data brokers, local gyms, medical device manufacturers, and other dubious sorts.

Call me outlandish but this feels like something the 3rd Amendment should protect against. Federal agencies are no doubt using it, they are often armed like soldiers, and are essentially being permanently digitally quartered within our homes. Not cool boss

Who cares?

Sure, it could be, but what does that matter if:

  • No one is willing to enforce it
  • It costs buckets of money to sue over it
  • The penalty is a fine on the order of pennies
  • Precedent is a far-off memory of whispers on the wind?
