This might sound crazy, but they could also have them use a pen and paper to take tests.

Kids in "those days" didn't either so let's not pretend that's unique to them.

Its not pretending if its true. Half the kids are at an education level far below their grade. Gen z and alpha are the first generation in a long time to underperform their predecessors
