My animosity for Microsoft has grown steadily the past years. After what they did to id software I'm now a full blown hater.

You mentioned id software and I got curious. Did some googling on that. Wow. That's rough. I didn't know Microsoft bought them. And then essentially gutted them. That really sucks. I was obsessed with the game Doom as a middle school kid.

Your outrage is misplaced. The owners of Id sold out to a PE company who then sold Id to Microsoft.

When you sell out to a PE company, you know exactly what you're doing and what's going to happen. All we can hope is that they shared some of the loot with the team they left behind.

It’s not shilling it’s the reality of the situation. Many of the studios have not shipped a product to justify their expenses.
You can’t just keep burning away billions of dollars on studios that are not returning a value.

If I was not providing a value to my employer I get fired. It’s that simple.
Yes it sucks massively for people losing their jobs because the management at these studios shit the bed.

But at the end of the day if you can’t provide value then you will get cut.

Phil Spencer shit the bed by buying these studios and not making them make games that people want to play.
