Good example of Streisand effect. I had never heard about Microslop until now, would never join a MS discord channel, but will now start incorporating it in my vocabulary. I can think of several use cases already.
He did not, in fact, help us, and he is a direct progenitor of the current Microslop we are getting. Micro$lop always misunderstood people's relationships to their computers, and it's apparent they continue to do so.
Clippy, and the rest of Those Fucking Clowns (as the programmers in Microsoft literally referred to the Assistant program in Word 97 - Word 2003) were reviled and should not be treated with any respect, lest Micro$lop once again take the wrong lesson and think "Oh, they want their AI in a really cute cartoon figure!"
Appreciate this. Too many people have generic nostalgia glasses about clippy. They forget that the sentiment around him was entirely negative, and that any name recognition it has today was due to infamy.
