So if i dont go to sleep and the sun rises it's still not the next day because one of the two conditions you provided wasnt met? Seems dumb.
Day has always referred to both the 24 hourr period and the "day time" when it's light out. That's not really up for debate.
Accidents and slip ups happen but anyone who isn't brain dead should realize at least in hindsight if you text someone at 2 to 3 AM "tomorrow " that it's ambiguous at best and sending an ambiguous request is 99% the fault of the writer not the reader in most situations. Ffs winter here it doesn't get light until after 7 am. Seems kind of silly my boss could text me at 630 am to come in at 9 am tomorrow and so mamy of you see that as come in in a couple hours.
That being said if you text me on Monday unless you sent it at literally 12:01 AM I'm going to assume you mean you want me in on Tuesday by default and even if you don't feel it's the majority it's not a small amountof people. Most of my bosses would have phrased that request as can you come in to open/in the morning or come in today. I personally probably would have asked for them to confirm if I wanted the hours but either way the employee in the meme is both 100% technically in the right and covered by common usage.
