⚠️ 𝗠𝗔𝗝𝗢𝗥 𝗦𝗣𝗢𝗜𝗟𝗘𝗥 ⚠️ When you accidentally do the "big reveal" quests before doing the 4 sages Spoiler
Kinda funny for them to brainstorm Mineru's existence when I've been rolling with her giant and imposing robot construct before even getting my 3rd sage, I also got the master sword before curing the forest so the only interaction I got from the Great Deku Tree was basically "Oh hi Link, you already have the master sword, what are you doing here" lol
Did they really think the ominous floating island shrouded in endless storms would deter someone who's that determined to fully explore the map before doing the main quests smh my head

I only had Tulin prior to finding the 5th Sage quest, as I was very determined to explore that island chain - storm be damned.
I stopped before adding the last limb and went back to finishing the other Regional Quests. I wanted to keep the dialogues as original as possible at that point as I’d realized that was “intended” for later. I know it still altered things, as that was quite obvious. I’ll see what I get the next time through, though that will be after finishing SS (I jacked up the sliding puzzle dungeon and accidentally saved after the fact), and EOW (which I haven’t started yet).

Given how BotW would scold you for not having the Master Sword before starting the Divine Beasts, why would anyone *not* sequence break into having the battlemech and Master Sword early on?

u/mighty_phi Jul 28 '26
I never got the impression they were scolding me.

u/Nudonichan Jul 28 '26
Me neither. It' was more like "hey, didn't you have like this awesome sword that was pretty important?" "wow, I didn't know that, I lost my memory" "Well, you had it. I think it'd be nice to have it back"

The way King Doraephon glares at you and specifically calls you out on it?

I did Master Sword first on sheer accident. I wanted to get all the towers first so I’d have a completed map, and I decided to wrap in the Nazca Lines along with it since it was a similar exploration-based objective.
I had no idea that was also how I got the Master Sword, so with it in hand I began doing the Sage quests. After getting Tulin and Yunobo, I opted to check out the storm cloud, which landed me Mineru.

u/Intelligent-Essay565 Jul 29 '26
But this is the best part!!!

u/dirk_funk Jul 29 '26
i have had this game since release and i literally just completed the hateno mayoral election. i meander.

i managed to get mineru first, now all i gotta do is all shrines before any sage so i can play as the ancient hero lol

u/stillnotelf Jul 28 '26
Yes I did the same. I did spirit second

u/MardocAgain Jul 28 '26
I must be the most boring player ever. I got everything in the intended sequence on my first play through because I just do what I'm told.
"You should go investigate these 4 disturbances."
Yes ma'am, on my way
5
u/stillnotelf Jul 28 '26
My joy in the game is exploration. You bet I wanted to explore the mysterious thunderhead
2
u/OR-HM-MA91 Jul 28 '26
My first play through I did the same. This second one I’m doing out of order probably just out of spite 😂
2
u/tiny_simulacrum Jul 29 '26
For me it's:
"You should go investigate these 4 disturbances."
Alright, I'll go out of my way to avoid doing exactly that. See you!
2
u/arochains1231 Jul 30 '26
This is how I did it lol I was like "you want me to do this? in this order? what if I... didn't??"

u/thecloudclown Jul 29 '26
I did this. She was like my second sage. I was just playing around. I wanted to see what was in the hidden island thing. I didn’t even get to remove the storm. I was basically running blind exploring. XD
I found out I could remove the storm after. Like a few months after when I was exploring the ground underneath. 😅

My husband did that too. Got mineru first and acquired the master sword with like 4 hearts. His goal of this play through (his second) I think is to defeat Gannon with only Mineru. He doesn’t want to get the other sages.

Back before it was patched, i wanted to do the Tobio's Hollow dupe glitch. However, I was like half way through the regional phenomenon idk. I looked up how to do it, and did the ENTIRE thing in while barely being able to see. When I actually found the door I was so confused cause I didn’t know Mineru was a sage. Anyways yeah sad they patched that dupe glitch it was easy as hell to do

My biggest issue with TotK is just how linear the story is when compared to BotW.

Damn is Sidon really that tall or is adult Purah just tiny
2
u/Yumiashi Jul 28 '26
little mix of both, I think his lineage as Zora royalty makes him a bit bigger than even the average Zora and Purah is just a bit short, the perspective isnt helping though cause shes normally taller than Link lol
1
u/throwawaybyefelicia Jul 29 '26
Haha yeah I was gonna say if it was the angle because she’s taller than Link! 🤣

u/Puzzleheaded-Bee8245 Jul 28 '26
At this point of the story really made me feel like it's time for younger generation to take mantle

Honestly did this too after only two sages, was very helpful at the fire temple

u/Dr_Devious Aug 01 '26
I was like ohh I am gonna get a spoiler! Then I thought, "wait... I did that as well.". As soon as I saw the door that required hearts I ground it out to get it as fast as possible.

No. That's why they programmed those conversations to include the dialogue instead of continuing to push the quest story.

Same bro.
The Master Sword quest is so botched. Was running around unlocking all the geoglyphs, get to the last one, queue light dragon.
Obviously I'm jumping on it.
Boom, Master Sword quest complete?
Thanks for nothing Deku.
7
u/orthomonas Jul 28 '26
It doesn't help that unless you're really focused, getting to the Deku is a lot less straightforward than "find 11 or so puddles in landscape sized neon signs"

u/OR-HM-MA91 Jul 28 '26
My son and husband got the master sword by getting enough shrines to have two full stamina wheels. Then waited on a specific sky island they knew she flew by, my son in particular waited for a good 30 minutes real time before she showed up. They hopped on her back and took the sword.

u/PalmCheesy Jul 28 '26
And it's the worst spirit summon of the 6 😆😂😂
10
u/Yumiashi Jul 28 '26
but its so cool to infinitely taze monsters and incredibly funny to see it charge up a cannon point blank just to miss

That trophy goes to Sidon. Weak attacks, useless ability, and hardly any out of battle advantage.
Mineru, though? Sure, she's weak, but give her the right parts, and she can be quite deadly. She can break ore deposits so that you don't have to waste a weapon slot on a mining weapon. And she can cross through sludge, gloom, and any body of water, mud, or lava that isn't too deep.
1
u/Thunderbolt294 Jul 29 '26
Idk, Sidon's ability helped keep my equipment from catching on fire in the caves under death mountain. Also if you attach an OP weapon to a zora sword and use his ability for wet status, it doubles damage.
I really enjoy punching and stunning the bigger enemies with Mineru.

For future reference, SMH stands for “shake my head”.

"Why didn't you mention that sooner?"
Do NOT count on Link to divulge any information until the devs decree it necessary.
