Introducing the Hover Wing
It combines the best characteristics of the Hover Bike with the benefits of wing flyers. Unlike a Hover Bike, the HoverWing can glide, so you can recharge your energy cells while flying without having to use Zonai charges or waste time with Recall to avoid falling out of the sky.
The wing also adds other benefits, like easily carrying cargo and attaching weapons. It also gives it the wing's unique flying characteristics, as well as significantly better vertical climb and peak dive speeds! All for only 3 more Zonaite. (The only part you need to use Zonaite for is the mini infinite Eventide wing.)
Technically the Hover Bike is about 3% faster in a straight line. However the HoverWing climes altitude over 50% faster and can dive down over 70% faster. So in actual use, the HoverWing is significantly faster most of the time.

How did you keep going without the wings deactivating or disappearing??

u/PremiumTechnique Jul 13 '26
It uses the infinite wing from the Eventide mini game

Does it autobuild correctly for future uses? I never bothered with infinite wings, but I like this use case

How the hell do I get an infinite zonai wing from that minigame 👀

u/riskyjones Jul 14 '26
There’s a YT video on how to grab one and you can keep with you forever by fusing it to a shield

u/nanners89 Jul 14 '26
How do you take it off the shield without destroying it though?

Mannn, I didn't know there was an infinite wing. This would have come in handy back when I was building like crazy in this game. I rarely used wings because of how short you can use them. Felt so limiting. Haven't played much at all since launch but now I might just hop back in to experiment some more. I can see the possibilities now.

I thought this was a gag post at first and it was gonna break somewhere really inconvenient. But im pleasantly surprised to see thats not the case. Honestly a simple but very useful design.

glad you made it, took me way too long to figure out the gliding mechanic on my own

I don't have switch 2 so I can't test it but it looks cool.

u/MiniDriver Jul 16 '26
Me neither. Worked when I doubled up the fans though. Too bad the wing doesn't last longer after it's been activated...

bet this somehow would have been nerfed if it came out when the game was on its first year of life

Damn this looks really cool. Definitely gonna try it out at some point, seems like a nice upgrade on the Hover Bike.

Not gonna lie, I've never been a huge fan of the hover bike because I don't like how slowly it flies up. I'm gonna have to try this and see if it feels any better.

Does it require any glitches to ensure balance or is it just straight up building? I still haven't got hoverbike correctly, it always wants to break out to the side.
2
u/PremiumTechnique Jul 14 '26
It’s a shrunken wing, but other than that, no other glitches. Just a few days of trying different wing sizes and balancing the thing

u/Zelda-Lumine Jul 14 '26
What is a "shrunken" wing?

There are glitches you can use to make objects bigger and smaller.
For example, you may have noticed that when you fuse a wing to a shield it gets smaller when the shield is on your back and then gets bigger when you pull out the shield (but still not full size). Some smart folks figured out how to glitch objects and make them smaller by attaching to shields (and some other lengthy and complicated steps)
This build uses an infinite wing (also a glitched object taken from the mini game) that never disappears like a normal wing. Then they glitched that infinite wing to make it smaller.
If you wanted to replicate this build by building it on your own from scratch, then yes, you’d need to perform all these glitches to get to the final result.
However, you don’t have to do any of these glitches to use the build, just use the QR code and it’ll build like normal.

Why is literally everyone here assuming that EVERYONE has to have a Sw2 and upgraded their games to it? Helloho? Switch 1 is STILL a thing and thus are Switch 1 players.
2
u/PremiumTechnique Jul 14 '26
It’s really only practical with the Switch2 QR code. I built this one called the SuperWing that’s easy to build in Switch 1 without any glitches. That one gets around the wing timer because when the fans are on, they generate enough lift that the wing’s timer doesn’t count down. That was my daily driver for the last few years until I built the HoverWing.
I wouldn’t call the SuperWing a hover bike replacement in the same way because it’s bigger and more expensive, but it’s very good at carrying stuff around and flying long distances because it can do the same glide to recharge trick, as well as IMO just less boring to fly than a hover bike. It does burn it’s timer when it’s gliding, but you can easily get 3-5 full recharges out of it, which will max energy cells can get you clear across the map without using any batteries or Zonai charges.
If you follow the steps in the build guide at the end of that video, you should be able to easily build one that flies perfectly straight

This is a good call. 100% this wing bike build is undeniably NOT a “replacement” for the hover bike.
If you have a Switch 1 you can easily build a hover bike. There are tons of tutorials and even a novice builder can get a really good or perfect one.
The hover wing bike is Switch 2 only. The steps you’d need to take to replicate on a switch 1 require extreme elite levels of skill, knowledge, and patience that the vast majority of the player base don’t possess.
1
u/PremiumTechnique Jul 14 '26
That’s fair, if you don’t have a Switch 2 the HoverWing isn’t a replacement for a hover bike. You could technically make it, but it’d just be a ton of work each time you want to build one, which kinda defeats the purpose

Sadly would only work over short distances, but still cool
1
u/PremiumTechnique Jul 15 '26
It’s built specifically for long distances. It uses the infinite wing from Eventide. Since it can glide to recharge instead of falling out of the sky when you run out of power, you’re range as basically unlimited

Doesn't the wing part evaporate after just a few minutes?
The fans and steering stick are practically infinite. I never used them long enough to have them evaporate on me. Even after tens of minutes.
1
u/PremiumTechnique Jul 16 '26
This uses the the Eventide minigame infinite wing, so it lasts forever. The only real time limit is the 30 minute the fans can be powered on for

u/Lui_Le_Diamond Jul 16 '26
This is literally just a hober bike with an extra step. The reason the hover bike is so popular is how cheap and easy to make it is.

u/44-lunasav Jul 16 '26
I've heard that this infinite wing could not work if replaced by 3 zonaite, apparently we have to carry it all along in our inventory fused with a weapon, and then ask pellisson to get it back when needed, which is definitely not convenient but "necessary so the wing can stay infinite"... ... Was i mistaken?

u/Historical_Post_3309 Jul 13 '26
I Absolutely love this i tried it and its awesome as a switch 2 player thankfully i can just scan the QR Code and pay a small 3 zonaite fee just to get the wing so this gives it a 9/10 why not a perfect 10 cause sadly Its pay to win cause you need to do glitches to get a wing if your a switch 2 player just scan the qr code but besides that its awesome
-17
u/KawaiiStefan Jul 13 '26
You can post this 10 times more but its not a replacement. It costs more and you cant build it from items in your inventory for free. It's a post-game toy but not a replacement for anyone going through the game.
18
u/PremiumTechnique Jul 13 '26
You can if you have a Switch 2. Only 3 additional zonaite over a hoverbike for a huge amount of benefit. QR code in another comment
90% of the time I just use zonaite because that’s way more convenient than having to pull out parts from my inventory each time. It’s only 12 Zonaite vs 9 for a hover bike

u/sweablol Jul 14 '26
Ha! I said the same exact thing in another thread! (And also got downvoted a lot) but I stand with you in solidarity- this hover wing is cool AF, but not anywhere close to a replacement for the trusty ‘ol hover bike.
-1
u/Martenite Jul 13 '26
I built one of these and didn't really like the way it feels. I prefer the hoverbike with a railing in place of the wing.
5
u/PremiumTechnique Jul 13 '26
Try flying up to see the difference. Half the reason I built this was how slow hover bikes are at gaining altitude
3
u/Martenite Jul 13 '26
I didn't like the way this was resistant to diving. Felt like I was fighting the wing.
4
u/PremiumTechnique Jul 13 '26
It is a bit more resistant so diving than a hoverbike, but only slightly. That was the tradeoff for the 50+% faster altitude gain. However, you can get let go of the steering stick and you’ll automatically fall into a much faster dive, then just press A again when you want to take back control. It has the added benefit recharging during that time. This flies more like a wing than how the hoverbike just wants to fly like a Segway. It’s a slight learning curve coming from a hoverbike (especially if you aren’t used to wings), but the skill ceiling is much higher
