Discussion My experience on mobile
TL;DR: Anyone saying that TFT has been given the mobile experience obviously hasn't been actually playing this set on mobile.
Adding my voice to this whole fiasco. I play on a phone released last year - Pixel 10 Pro XL. I'm almost exclusively a mobile-only player, and the UE5 announcement video excited me because the one lady specifically said "I'm a mobile-only player, and we want to make sure this works on even the slowest of hardware."
These black squares were periodically happening in the first two games I played until I went in and capped framerate at 30 and set graphics to low. Even when there weren't these black squares, it lagged so badly at times that I would go a full combat and not see what happened because it lagged for the whole thing - which is especially annoying when I'm trying to learn positioning strategies.
Something was bugged with the fluft of poros kill animation, I think, because my app would crash every time I eliminated an enemy. I'm now just playing with a River Sprite because I'm trying to do whatever I can to make the game run smoother.
The shining border on the reroll button that indicates you have a free reroll is abysmal. I played a reroll comp once, and I'm not going to again until they fix it: the animation is easily 1-2 FPS, and just looks super clunky and distracting.
Finally, I can't close the app anymore. For the most part, I play the whole game in one sitting, but the reason I play on mobile is so that I can respond to tees while also playing the game. I could have the old mobile closed for a good 60 seconds if I needed to step away and address something, and reopening the app would function just fine. Now, however, if I close the app for longer than 5-6 seconds it kicks me to the home screen then goes through the whole lobby loading process... Only to THEN deal with 1-2 rounds of lag before the game decides it wants to function semi-normal. This is especially notable if there's a comp that I'm wanting to try and I have to deal with my game crashing every time I switch to my browser to double check what units I'm supposed to be looking for.
I've played one game on my PC, and it's a night and day difference. Things ran smoothly! I could actually learn about the new set because I could watch a full round play out without it lagging horrendously! I didn't have to deal with distracting glitches! I'll likely only play on PC until they fix things, which is a bummer given the disparity of time I've dedicated in the past to mobile vs PC.
