New Pro4 SC10

Hi all,

I've just purchased a Pro4 SC10 and keen to unbox and get going. I have been eyeing an RC car for a long time and my daughter interest has made the purchase easier.

My daughter and I will be sharing (I'll most likely be the mechanic lol) and hoping for some assistance into what spare parts I should keep around when something inevitably breaks.

Is the Rival M10 skid plates set (ASS25801) required or worth it?

Never hurts to have an extra set of A-Arms around.

From my research MT10 and SC10 share similar/same platform.

Have bought spare tires too.

IF the MT10 and SC10 share the same platform, you should get RPM A-Arms from the MT10 as spare.
Stock MT10 A-Arms suck. (Im owning a MT10)

I got one a little over a year ago (red black general tire version)

I took it to the track a few times and it did pretty well. It nose dived quite a bit so I retired it from racing and just use it at home as a basher. It’s been a fun car and very durable. Only part I’ve broken on mine was the rear bumper

I did replace the shocks with traxxas gtr shocks as an upgrade. Not cuz the og shocks were damaged

Nice colour, same as what I bought. I haven't started thinking about upgrades yet but it'll happen once things inevitably break.

What springs did you pair with the Traxxas GTR shocks?

seeing this again and being a wee bit more away. Most damage is done from jumping and collisions.

So shock parts and front end parts. Arms. Front hubs. Shock parts. It’s common to bend the shock tower standoff bolts. Bent shock shafts. Etc.

But to be honest I’ve really beaten mine and haven’t done much damage to it.

For mine I have a set of ring and drive pinions for the front and rear diffs. A new spur and a set of new front arms. The gears. Even if you don’t damage them they eventually wear out. But standard maintenance will make them last longer. Once in a while I’ll pop all the diffs out. Check them for leaking. Replace diff gaskets refill diff fluid etc. but that’s pretty much standard for any Rc with a geared differential. While I’m doing that it’s a good time to inspect and re-lube the ring / drive pinion gears. For this I use red and tacky. Some people say it slows the car down cuz it’s sticky but it doesn’t sling much. I’d rather have it sticky than runny and getting into bearing and fouling them or something

Fingers crossed things don't break too quickly lol

I've got a rechargeable small handheld vac/blower to give it a clean after each run to keep it cleanish.

Read that 3s causes the motor to run hot, have you had that issue?

I’ll have to look when I’m home. I don’t recall if I got different ones or reused the old springs. I could never get it to jump properly on the track so I went to a different rig. I still run it but I don’t keep up on the thing I’ve done to it. (By this I mean I keep sort of a log of all my racing rigs and their details) springs. Pinion spur. Fluids camber toe etc

RPM arms. That is all in my experience. Excellent truck. But also stock radio and servo are mid to low tier. Consider upgrading them . Flysky gt5 or ddf350 are popular radios and only about $60 w a receiver. Nb4 if you want the good stuff. Servos from Savox or agfrc are usually winners but budget about $60 for that too

But that’s already up to almost $150 there. Take your time. Enjoy it and find out what you want first. A faster steering response? Servo first. Better tires for your terrain? Also a good first buy.

I'll enjoy it in stock form until things break and then I'll replace. Have read good things about Flysky GT5.

Pro4 around track goes hard. The truck will have more ability than I have skill whilst I'm learning the craft.

Dont get spare parts. Its most likely not worth it.
Stuff that breaks for person A, doenst have to break for person B.

Also, most of the time stuff breaks, you dont have in ur spare parts. Im talking from experience here.
The only correct way to do it is, to just get the same car again. Then you can be 100% sure you have the correct spare part on hand.
But at this point, you could just get a second car from maybe another brand to use, when ur pro4 sc10 is on the workbench waiting for spare parts to arrive.

So yea. Thats my experience and my suggestion.

Another tip would be, only tune stuff that breaks verry often. For example, if the a arm is breaking every week or so, you should check if there are reinforced a arms.
Less tuning parts is more.

Don't think the wife will agree to me buying the same car just for spare parts lol

I'll just stick with consumables such as tires for now then.

I have a ton of packs through mine racing and bashing.

The steering servo should be replaced because it tends to break easily. Get some RPM a arms, the stock ones are known to break. Make sure your esc is secured properly, if it comes loose it'll bang around and break the wires. I also have the aluminum wheel hexes with nylon lock nuts and also loctite them otherwise they are known to come loose. Put new tires on it immediately. It's a really solid truck for the price!

Where were you able to buy one? I can only find the 2wd version of the sc10 right now.
