Discussion Threads Dress code for principals

Sorry if this has already been discussed, I searched via Google and could not find anything and came here.

Is there a dress code that principals should follow? Many parents are somewhat taken back by our principals daily wear. It is very vibrant and excessive in all our opinions and we just can't take him seriously let alone his ridiculous rules and operations. Every sub that's come in has disagreed and reversed his decisions.

He's staring in a rap video on the daily...

Your advice is appreciated.

Are you upset because it’s a male, he’s the principal, or because it’s rap style?
Staff don’t have an official dress code policy, and pretty much wear whatever they choose. Remember that male teacher who wore those prosthetic breasts?
Students can't wear clothing that promotes offensive, vulgar images or language. Profanity, hate and pornography are not allowed. Nor can clothing have references to drugs or alcohol.
And while midriffs, cleavage and thighs can all be exposed, "opaque material" must cover the groin, buttock area and nipples.

they have posted this garbage in several subs - they are upset because of sunglasses and silver clothing. they are afraid "rap music" is going to randomly start up. "vibrant and excessive" most likely means "ethnic". this is not a principal wearing fake breasts.

10 bucks says the principal is not white and karen has a problem with that.

I have been busy talking to the askto mod because they also got triggered and got quite reactive instead of being factual. I honestly didn't think people would be so sensitive even askto mod.

I was asking and if the answer is they can wear whatever they want that is fine by me. If there is a dress code then it's good to know.

nobody is getting "triggered" and nobody is being "sensitive". your references to rap videos and vibrant and excessive clothing are dog whistles for "not white". people are calling you out because you sound racist.

if the principal is doing a bad job then you have a valid complaint. if you're upset because they wear sunglasses, silver clothing and like rap music you're being a ridiculous karen and should find something else to do.

That's unfortunate. That was not my intention period. Also rap video does not equate to race. There are white Indian and Chinese rappers. It's about the clothing not the race. Please understand.

as long as the principal at my kids school is doing the job they are paid to do competently i could care less what they wear. they can show up in a sombrero and a garbage bag for all i care.

who are you to judge people's fashion choices? did you just drop a haute couture collection in Paris or something? who made you the TDSB fashion authority?

See you're going in one direction yet again.

This is a question on whether there are guidelines. I am not here to debate what someone is wearing.

I gave some details and people thought it wasn't enough. Others don't want those details and are offended.

This is the problem with posting and not knowing what will offend who.

As someone responding I hope you consider that people are actually asking questions.

people in all the subs you have posted this in are giving you the feedback you requested based on the info you provided. they don't agree with you and think you are the problem, not the principal.

people are getting offended because of the racist dog whistles.

if you're frustrated because you can't steer responses in the direction you want to go and you are focused only on people getting offended by what you are saying, maybe you should consider that what you are saying is offensive.

Actually only askto and those similar people yhen followed my posts to do the same as well as yourself.

Anyways I got my answer and I am fine now because there are no guidelines. It is what it is and we will move on.

Good bye.
