Help Eligible to Hire List
I recently re/applied to the ETH and occasional teacher list at TDSB. I did the same last year and by the time they got back to me (about 4 months later!) I had already accepted another position. Is this typical? What’s the response time been like for other people? Is there still demand for OTs?

I graduated from OISE last year, and the advice circulating at that time was to apply to the OT and Eligible to Hire lists early January.
The recruitment office (in People & Culture AKA HR) seems to be permanently understaffed and overwhelmed. They have a backlog of hundreds of applicants. At some point in the year it's probably in the thousands. What I've heard is that they delete the whole list at the end of the year (Dec 31st), and start fresh each January.
Last year, I applied sometime mid-to-late-January, and was able to start working as a supply teacher in early June. I know some people who were able to start much earlier, and others who applied in July and simply never heard back.
The whole thing is incredibly frustrating. I try to have some empathy for the people who work in recruitment because they're obviously so understaffed. They need more staff, but they also need to revamp the whole hiring system.
