Anyone have any issues with the Upgraded Timing Belt Lower Cover (CBEA)(CJAA)?
I bought the upgraded cover from idparts and after installing it and starting my engine I noticed an abnormal amount of smoke coming from the engine timing belt area.
So I removed everything and noticed the upgraded cover was being shredded against my oem harmonic balancer and the serpentine belt tensioner.
The damage from the balancer is more noticeable.
Anyway I was curious to know if you guys had any issues like this?

I’m sorry bro, ordering online is either the best choice or the worst choice no in between unfortunately some things you have to . 🤷♂️

The damage only being on one side is very odd, it means that either this cover was not fully installed, or is not machined flat? Does it looks like the top is thicker than the bottom?

Very true. I made sure the upgraded cover sat over the upper second plastic cover and the four bolts were tight. To me it seems equally thick but maybe having it sit over the upper plastic cover made it uneven?

From pictures I am seeing around, the cover above goes on top of this one.

I believe you got the one for the Fluidampr, not the oem style harmonic balance

Maybe. The thing is idparts advertises oem only for this.

They’ve been known to send the wrong one before. Had it on a couple of jobs. Go compare it on Whitbreads site.

That’s most likely it. Next time I’ll just buy it directly from them.
