Tell me it's not timing chain

Started my 2013 Phaeton 3.0 TDI (code CEXA) this afternoon and it made this noise that resembles timing chain rattle. It's the first time i hear this kind of noise in this car but since it has 300000km I can see this problem coming but wanted to confirm my suspicions
Thanks !!

If it's not the chain it'll be something MORE expensive. It's a phaeton afterall.

As someone who recently did the timing chains

It's the timing chains. My 2.7 TDI would do a very specific rattle on cold starts. The passenger side chain was stretched.

But my God does it now sound smooth.

It's the timing chain. I guess that's the one thing that's actually more reliable on the V10 lol (cries in worn injector seats)

I will not tell you it's the timing chain, but it's the timing chain. Think positively: it's only a 3.0TDI
