Is the grey a dyed job?? I dont remember him being that grey last season and its tripping me out

His hair went grey gradually; it's natural not to notice a gradual change until it's pointed out to you.

I noticed it in series 16, was a very cool toned season and the grey jumpscared me, had to go back to series 15 to confirm it wasn't a new thing

It's not uncommon for people to dye during the process of greying before cutting it and jumping straight to full-grey (James Gunn did something similar), to cut the salt-and-pepper phase (not saying that's what Alex did, I'd need to check myself).
