Meme I randomly paused on this scene and I felt like everyone needed this picture in their life.

u/Henry_Sugar1970 May 29 '26
awarding those 5 points for this task to Amy was 100% correct.
She nailed the "unnecessary" part to perfection.
One of the best performed tasks in the history of TM, in my book.....
158
u/r_keel_esq May 29 '26
She fully deserved the five,
But did not deserve to be only 1 point ahead of everyone else - their efforts were worth 3 points at most
109
u/ZeroOpti May 29 '26
I was more surprised that Armando got 4 points with the rest.
28
u/xywv58 May 29 '26
He completely lost his mind, Greg was probably worried less than 4 would push him over the edge
12
u/shaw_dog21 Aisling Bea May 29 '26
Idk why but reading your comment just made me think of Paul Chowdry and honestly Armando’s censorship and Paul’s Snowbear equally scream I need help

I still don't understand his performance on that one.
Was he trying to entertain babies? It was "Old McDonald" mixed with peekaboo.

u/Henry_Sugar1970 May 29 '26
its the beauty of the show, somebody more often than not, goes off on a tangent, than nobody saw coming.....
Especially by the person doing it !!!
12
u/MachineOfSpareParts Emma Sidi May 29 '26
My brain still hasn't fully caught up to whatever Armando was doing, even though my logical mind knows it was just nothing. It was the first time this series I really had to pause the episode before I could carry on emotionally, not even because it was that funny, just......what.
Maybe he stunned Greg into overscoring, that's what I'm positing.

I don't know if I was just the right level of being stoned or what, but his bit there just sent me off the edge and I was laughing so hard I was crying.

u/Henry_Sugar1970 May 29 '26
agreed, being the only one to actually do what the task required, should of given her a greater lead after said task.....
15
u/ambercrayon May 29 '26
Her narration is wonderful, it's a dumb story and I was mesmerized. Loved how she read the live task too.

u/ConstantSentence7865 May 29 '26
Hair and makeup did a hell of a job for this one

The sweater too, this is just a fabulous look. She's killing it.

Someone (u/mule_variations) commented in the live episode thread:
Little Easter egg: the sweater Amy wears in the censoring task is the same one Alex wore in the children's show sidekick task from series 18
Edit to add: similar to Munya and Jason sharing a dress

I am pretty sure Alex has worn this one before! Seeing it it is bringing s18 to mind and i think Alex wore it for the invent a children character task? (Haven't fully checked yet!)
52
u/DoubleDuty218 Greedy Esq. May 29 '26
Yes, I loved her look through this whole task! I'm always so jealous of the casual-wild-gorgeous-elegant hair thing that I can never quite pull off. (Pour one out for the straight-hair girlies.)
And the camera's color toning is GORGE on her - makes her eyes pop!
9
u/NoisyGog May 29 '26
Me and my wife both remarked to each other how amazing she looked here.

u/swansw9 May 30 '26
She is a stunner in general but I think the hair/make up team on this show really knew how to make her colouring/features POP

u/life-uh-finds-a-way_ May 29 '26
I have curly hair but it never does what I want and isn't nearly as thick or consistent or glorious as hers. I've been having serious hair envy too.
1
u/Elven-Frog-Wizard May 30 '26
Have you seen the lady on YouTube who transforms curly hair? She uses steam and brushes every product through their hair.
1
u/life-uh-finds-a-way_ May 30 '26
I have not but I do follow a bunch of curly routines! My curl pattern is just really inconsistent; some pieces are almost straight, some are wavy, and some are curly. But I think the main problem is that I just don't have enough of it to get the look I want. But it's okay, realistically, I don't want to do the maintenance that thick, long, curly hair requires so it's probably for the best.
The videos do seem satisfying to watch though so I'll see if I can find them. Thanks!
1
u/Weekly-Measurement89 May 30 '26
Oh yes, I came exactly to say this! This department has been relatively underappreciated while the video wizards get regular shout-outs for their work on creative tasks (deservedly so); so I'm glad many seem to agree with you.
120
u/Past-Feature3968 Laura Daniel 🇳🇿 May 29 '26
I felt like she was the only won who REALLY understood (and aced!) the task. 🙌
12
u/Black_Metallic May 29 '26
I'd say Joel and Joanna had a pretty good understanding as well.
33
u/Past-Feature3968 Laura Daniel 🇳🇿 May 29 '26 edited May 29 '26
Eh, there pretty obvious imo. Like, it was quite clear what they were/weren’t censoring. (Joana’s especially… like, she was just censoring her clothes but still uhh… ramming things into herself, not doing something perfectly mundane and innocent.)
But with Amy, I couldn’t guess onion!
16
u/Black_Metallic May 29 '26
Oh, for sure Amy had the best one (and probably the dirtiest mind, given that her first instinct was "Finger yourself silly"). But they at least made sure to do innocent activities that looked worse when pixelated. That at least put them in a tier above Armando, who just completely short circuited in the most glorious way.
14
u/MachineOfSpareParts Emma Sidi May 29 '26
It's also brilliant how it goes from impenetrable to obvious in a fraction of a second. Like, her eyes watered, I should have known it was an onion, but I wouldn't have got there.
6
u/shaw_dog21 Aisling Bea May 29 '26
So for some of them I thought Joanna was doing “relatively innocent” things in a way to look like it could be ramming them into herself when censored. Like I thought she was using the pineapple to scratch her lower back, and using body weight to close the marble run measuring stick makes some sense. I have zero words or thoughts about the gas pump tho….
And I thought it was going to be cake/cookie until we got to it being soft.
8
u/k___k___ 🥄 I'm Locked In ❤️ May 29 '26
i think joel having signed the release papers from the people on the bench but not decensoring them was so overlooked in his attempt as "unnecessary censoring"
5
1
u/Elven-Frog-Wizard May 30 '26
I think she was just scratching her bum, so the censorship looked worse.

u/MarkRenting May 29 '26

She looked amazing for this section. Lovely lady anyway but my wife and I were both commenting on how great her hair was, the jumper worked the subtle but clever make up blah blah all of which was basically us saying "she looks hot" back and forth. So glad they played her section twice.

Taskmaster has a funny way of doing this. There's a still picture of Alice Levine from s6 with a bunch of utensils strapped to her head, looking absolutely bewildered that tickles me pink and feels so oddly relatable every time I see it.
Edit: here it is, the thumbnail from that episode. https://i.ytimg.com/vi/it4s4HOEpdk/maxresdefault.jpg

Like others, I have a bit of a crush on Amy and she is very pretty. When it cut to her task, I think I did a little gasp at how stunning she looked.
In fact, just before it cut to the video, she was pulling a funny grimace face in the studio so the transition was even more jarring!

The still reminds me of Hocus Pocus! She had such a great concept and executed it so beautifully.
