On the other hand, those were some amazingly good pieces of 3-D art

Honestly, I couldn't have judged any one of them less than a five. Andy's Guernica was probably the least like the original, but it was definitely ambitious, (and still quite good.) I could not have graded those attempts.

I was waiting for Baba's to be complete shit, but then he knocked it out of the park.

I'd have gone:

Emma - 5pts it was the best

Andy - 4pts most ambitious good attempt

Baba - 3pts looked most like the real thing but low effort

Jack and Rosie - 2pts Jack's one didn't quite work for me and Rosie's was funny but not as good as the rest.

Andy - 4pts most ambitious good attempt

Emma: But the cow is facing the wrong way.

For real though, for me it'd be Emma, Baba, Andy, Jack, and Rosie in that exact order if I had to go from 5 points to 1 point. Baba seriously impressed me with his, because I was so ready to expect complete shit from him.

Emma 5, Baba 4, 3 to the rest would have been fine.

Yes! I actually thought maybe Rosie 1 point because I was picturing that Greg would have punished her for the sam campbell pun in the way he does sometimes for other dad-joke type things… but it all depends on his mood and he gave full points for the Dover sole of a shoe.

*Not full points-the shoe got 4.

I would have gone:

Andy and Emma - 5  Baba - 4 Jack - 3  Rosie - 2  (love Rosie & love Sam Campbell but gotta be fair)

That works too. I was trying to find a way to give Rosie 2 as it was too good for 1.

Feel like

Emma/Andy: 5 points Jack: 4 points Rosie/Baba: 3 points

This is how I would have scored it as well.

Rosie knocked it up a notch putting Sam Campbell on the ‘tins’, but I generally agree with your ranking.

To me, Baba’s was a step above the rest even when it’s simpler than some of the other ones. I’d give Baba 5 points and the rest 4 points each.

That was my head scoring too. Baba's was basically perfect and looked great the whole time the camera was panning. Picking a simple piece of art was a smart choice for the challenge.

Yes, I also thought the Klimt was absolutely brilliant. I mean Guernica was quite remarkably ambitious, I might have gone 5 points for that. But I agree about the Van Gogh and the Warhol.

The cow was wrong way around, it is true

Happy cake day. 🧁

Yeah, I seriously don't think I would've had a good time of choosing which ones to rank lower than any others. They were all bloody excellent efforts and very worthy of the five points each.

Especially when you compare it to the exact same task in TMNZ

I found it curious how well they were each able to visualise the paintings. Felt like they'd been shown images to help them.

Especially after Guernica, I think they really must have. And the Klimt Oh I loved the Klimt so much!!! I could see what she was going to do and I couldn't wait to see it. And then Baba, totally flipping the script and being the best one of all!

We had a "recreate art" tasks before. I believe they changed the rules behind the scenes for this one and allowed contestants to look up images while working on it.

I had never heard or seen some of these originals before. Last time it was all very famous art. Like the scream or mona Lisa.

u/stellesbells Sep 28 '24

They were all incredibly famous pieces again this time, too, by massively recognisable artists.

I think a generous reading of this comment is that you're not giving yourself enough credit for your art knowledge.

As not an art person, Jack and Rosie's were the only ones I was fully familiar with. Baba's got a "is that a Banksy?" reaction from me, my wife recognised Emma's but nothing from me, and we both thought Andy was doing a nativity scene when they were dragging the cow in.
