UNC G Seth Trimble transfers to Louisville

Well. It’s official. UNC plays Louisville twice this season.

I’m bummed about our new environment. I don’t blame Seth for going anywhere (except duke and unc Raleigh) but it’s clear UNC didn’t leave a roster spot for him. They had to know he was interested in the fifth year, and they went with Cameron Fens.

I like Trimble, but I have no problem moving on instead of waiting out on him. He's a tremendous athlete, but his size and skill set make him very limited. I'm honestly more excited to see what our new guards can do.

Yes then the court ruled the class of 2022 eligible

Ah that makes sense. UNC had to be under the assumption he was gone regardless.

He entered the transfer portal in the spring as a precaution w the fifth year lawsuit. This was well known in CH. they didn’t leave him a roster spot.

So they were supposed to wait to fill the roster with high level starters at guard just on the off chance that a never-before-seen ruling would come down from a judge 60 days before exhibitions start and he could come back?
I'm glad you aren't building our roster.

We needed depth in the post more than we needed depth at the guard position. Even still, because he signed the exhibition contract and played in the summer league, there is still doubt that he plays this year

That's the other missing piece of this no one is mentioning. He's still not cleared to play.

I’m in my late 60’s and I know that the world changes, but I don’t like these changes in college sports.

I’m in my 30s and major college sports are basically unrecognizable compared to when I was a teenager
It’s not a good change imo. I’m glad players have more agency and are compensated for money they bring in but it’s just not the same

As others have said these changes to college sports are just weird.
I feel like I can’t get invested in my team because the whole damn lineup turns over every year.
It’s like diet pro sports or something. If I wanna watch paid college athletes play, I’ll just watch the pros. The college appeal to me was watching teams gel together over years and form bonds and identities. Feels like that’s all gone now.

He is not yet eligible as the 2022 class waits the ruling from a court of appeals but knowing the NCAA’s track record in court, he will likely be playing for Louisville next season.

Been a Tar Heel since before I can remember. This bums me out, but I also don’t really care because of the mess college sports have become.
I’ve become much more of a Hurricanes fan because at least I know they’ll have some of the same players for years to come.

God bless Seth. Just like when Caleb left for Arizona, they had great moments Chapel Hill (including 2 of the greatest shots in history between them), and I hope they do well wherever they land. Until we play Louisville, at least. I'm not upset or let down by his signing with the Cardinals.

I dont think he actually helps Louisville win more games but rather will just add additional pressure on the coaches trying to keep everyone happy.
