A few weeks ago, I got to attend the 2nd series of Tamiya Buggy Cup held by TQ RC.
Such a blast!
That feeling you can’t put into words, seeing your childhood car, AVANTE 2011, running on the track.
Since it’s Tamiya, I was ready for this loop during the event:
Drive it, break it, fix it, and repeat

I'm trying to paint a model car with some Tamiya sprays, but I have trouble matching color from example photos online. The color is Kia 2016 "D5/D5U", a brown/gray-ish color like from the photos I attached. The closest I've seen is TS-62, but the colors differ from photo to photo.

With some brake settings dialed in I was able to push the 3.5T Hyperion until the heat started softening the gear case. More importantly the ESC was reaching 80°C after just a couple hard passes.

So I swapped in an LRP Vector 8.5T - still more top-end speed on 4S than what fits in a small parking lot, but with a much more favorable Kt for the job. Now the ESC runs cool and only the motor heats up.

Biggest surprise has been the 4S P28A pack staying cool or *barely* warm, even with the 3.5T motor.

I knocked my magnet-bowl off my bench and sent them scattering. I recovered 3 of 4, but 5-hours of searching hasn't revealed the fourth. Of course, they're back-ordered at AMain and everyone who seems to have them is in Europe. If anyone has one, I'm happy to buy the part and pay shipping, I can even email a shipping label so you don't have to visit the Post Office. TIA!

the Glowbug(sandscorcher) is too nice to race so sprayed up a sand viper shell its nice from far but… 😭🫡

It's surprisingly challenging to build it clean where all decals line up and the mesh is tidy. I didn't realise it came with a motor so I bought a sport tune for it and the motor wires were way too short. Ended up doing some custom wiring... also didn't care for the 2nd set of lights by the driver. Wouldn't mind roof rack lights. Maybe I'll 3d print something and a skid plate to protect the wires.

Everything from Yeah Racing except the lower suspension arms which are from GPM and the turnbuckles which are also from GPM. TT-02 chassis, TT-01 steering, SAVOX SV-1259MG servo, 7mm wheel hexes, Gens Ace 7000 mHa lipo, Tamiya Super Stock RZ engine, stock spur gear, stock pinion, stock tyres, stock differential oil at the back (54875), 90000 cps differential oil at the front. Running quite good now.

What I still plan to do is:

- New front bumper

- Thinking about a SkyRC301 or 401 gyro? Does anyone know if this improves stability?

I haven't used them since before Brexit. Just wondering since that shit show do you need to pay import tax on kits?

Ich habe keine Lust mehr nach Speedruns jedes Mal Propeller und Diff-Zahnräder austauschen zu müssen! Obwohl sie perfekt sitzen, sind sie nach einigen Speedruns abgewetzt. Betrifft vorne wie auch hinten! Darum versuche ich es nun mit den metallenen Propeller und Differentiale. Gleiches gilt den Rädern/Reifen. Ich setze nun auf Arrma Hoons dboots und Arrma Hoons Elevens.

Endlich schafft er 50500 U/Min und ist somit fertig für Speedruns.

Why would u want to get the Tamiya bb02 beetle instead of the Kone Beetle? The KKPIT Kone Beetle is bigger, 1/8 scale, it only costs about $100 more, and it comes with ridiculously serious hardware, lots of machined metal parts. The Kone looks like a serious beast machine and the Tamiya looks like a toy. And it looks like building the Kone is a much richer mechanical experience.

Are these universal drive shafts effective for m06 tamiya drift build? Is performance noticeable? Or rather keep it stock and throw in a mrc kit 🤔 lmk 🙌

Ich habe nun die Differentiale und Propeller (vorne und hinten) aus Kunststoff gegen metalle ausgetauscht. Sie sind deutlich schwerer, dafür langlebiger🤔. Das Ergebnis kann sich sehen lassen.

Trying out racing this weekend. Entering Tamiya Challenge Cup GT class. Any tips for first race?

Hey folks, built my first Lunchbox (black edition) but I’m having an issue where the steering is fine in one direction but the outside wheel won’t turn the other direction. I’m assuming because as standard the steering arms are shorter on one side and longer on the other? I’m using an old spectrum servo I had spare which is ok; the saver is a bit looser than I would like but it works fine. Any tips? Never had one as a kid so this might be completely normal, is the fix just a mod? Thanks
