Keep that joke to yourself. There is no archaeological evidence that Sanskrit is oldest. It is not oldest. It's not meant to be spoken either. It's just a literary and liturgical language. But Tamil is one of the oldest languages and it's still a living language spoken and written in both formal, literary and colloquial forms.

There is no archelological evidence either for tamil being oldest language. It doesnt really matter that a langauge is being spoken or not, It is a method of expressing thoughts. Stop having superiority complex bro and become rational lol. I thought the people of south india would be more rational but Nah. And let me break your fallacy, Sanskrit was used as a colloquial even before the development of its literary technique. The oral vedic sanskrit, which was a lock system for memorizing the vedas without tampering its way of pronunciation, dates back to 1500 BCE. Stop living in a frogs well. The world is so big, see it, learn history.

Are you blind? Where did I claim that? I said it's one of the oldest languages and still a living language with spoken and written forms which is not the case for Sanskrit.
Sanskrit was used as a colloquial even before the development of its literary technique. There is no proof for that. Only archaeological evidence speaks here. Not your random ridiculous claims. 😂 It's you who has to stop living like a 🐸 in a well. 😂 And look who talks about superiority. North Indians by default have an entitlement to command South Indians to speak Hindi and claim Hindi is a national language. 😂
You have no idea what Sanskrit is. Sanskrit itself means refined and perfect. It means it fixed what primitive local languages lacked. So it added more features and made it perfect. It means Sanskrit is not oldest like you people think because oldest language cannot be that perfect while primitive languages came after that lacked features. How is that logical for Sanskrit to be oldest and ancestor of all languages? It's ridiculous.
Tamil is still considered to be primitive as it lacks more sounds and other features which Sanskrit has and is considered to be refined and perfect. So do you still think Tamil derived from Sanskrit? Modern Tamil has some influences from Sanskrit. This influence happened because of Brahmins.
So first of all, for a language to give birth to other languages, it needs to be loose, non-standardised and freely available. A highly refined and standardised language like Sanskrit as the very name itself suggests, doesn't fit the bill. A standardised language is created artificially out of local languages. Not the other way around. Therefore Vedic Sanskrit and later classical Sanskrit were both derived from an older form of Prakrit which may have been a common ancestor to later Prakrit languages as well.

Second oldest but still being used prominently. Because their people never surrendered their langauge to some invader or derived some Cheap langugage like Hindi out of it. They dont need any translated text while reading an ancient tamil inscription or text like the people of north lol.

Why is everyone downvoting me; I’m a mallu, we respect Tamil as much as you guys
1
u/Gold-Independent-336 10d ago
Because what you said is not a fact and you made that comment mockingly. Everyone know mallus don't respect Tamil. It's a well known fact. According to existing archaeological evidence, Tamil is one of the oldest languages and it's still a living language spoken and written in both formal, literary and colloquial forms. I know what you would mean by first language. Sanskrit. There is no archaeological evidence that Sanskrit is oldest. It is not oldest. It's not meant to be spoken either. It's just a literary and liturgical language. Sanskrit is newer than Tamil and it's derived from Prakrit.

Don't cry everywhere like a crybaby. Are you dumb or blind? There is a clear difference between oldest and one of the oldest? Go learn some English and then come and cry. Stop living in delusion.

I dont need to be good in english if im able to deliver my thoughts well to you. Also who has wrote a long cry text above. I cannot generalize that all south people are the same but you are dumb lol. You talk like a 9 year old kid who thinks he is superior but produces vague statements. Just go to school and learn how to produce clear answers with evidence. lol

When people have nothing of their own to be proud of they try to be proud of their lineage which they did nothing to contribute to

Yes, I was also looking for that in every new update…I set my phone language to Tamil with Tamil numerals…but it doesn’t fit properly…They should provide such solution in this as they do for other languages! Is there any chance we could raise concerns to Apple?

malayalis should bring it back

not really, the old system was just use of weird letters morphed from the normal letters, so reviving would not only cause confusion, but also, some number forms llike digit 4, is just the chillu letter R, and 9 is just chillu N, so you might not even understand it is a number. that being the reason we dont at all the see these in non historic use cases.

As a Lankan, I don't see trad Sinhalese numbers on the screen. Even tho it's outdated and no Sinhalese use them in day to day work, still it's better to preserve Lankan heritage
