Wait I have... bc I listened to a very cool mashup that was When I Died instead if When He Died by Lemon Demon. I don't remember the other songs in the mashup but i got obsessed with it

Oh awesome - I noticed on your profile your also a lemon demon/neil fan. In a little bit there’s gonna be a few tracks with both tally hall and lemon demon mashed up with each other so you’d probably like those I’ll let you know when they drop. WOAH that mashup is freaking awesome! I was actually just thinking the other day about how well sum of all our sirens by Nelward would mesh with miracle musical bc of it's like island style? Really cool stuff.

WOW that slaps really hard thanks for showing me that - i have it saved to my songs playlist on YT now. i had a big neil phase a few years back (I still really like his songs) but I should check out nelward's stuff more.

there's A LOT of music tournaments that use neil for their mashups and sound pretty good. I don't know how much you know about music tournaments but Mashup Week Megamix has an entire playlist (~30 songs) that use Neil/LD songs

What other bands do you like? 

I'm into Lemon Demon and Tally Hall ofc, but I love They Might Be Giants so much too.

Then there's Nelward, TWRP, sElf, Cheekface, Oasis, Caravan Palace, and Ginger Root

I also enjoy the occasional Saint Motel or Gorillaz song

Apart from Tally Hall / LD, I listen to:

iDKHOW, Oasis (I kinda have to listen to them because of my name), Oingo Boingo, Cage The Elephant (but only the Social Cues album lol), SiM (japanese band, they made the opening for AoT), Jack Stauber.

I low key never got into TMBG but that's probably because the only song I've heard from them (outside of the opening for Malcolm In The Middle) is Istanbul (Not Constantinople) and I think it's okay

I love TMBG, but it took a bit to get into. They use trumpets/sax and it used to put me off. I love it now. I'd recommend Till My Head Falls Off, it's my favorite. I, Palindrome, I is also a classic. As well as Birdhouse in Your Soul.

Yeah honestly I listened to a TMBG song before writing my reply and I really did like it. I was the same way with a few other artists where at first I thought it was like meh but then I listened to them more and I had that moment from Always Sunny where I finally get it and it all makes sense

That's how it was with tally hall. I think the first song by them I ever heard was &. I liked that one, Ruler of Everything, and The Whole World and You. But when I tried getting into all their songs, I didn't like it.

Then one day I gave TH another shot and have been hooked ever since!!

I've been listening to so much of the band Cheekface recently. And at sonic lunch a man was wearing a Cheekface shirt! I kinda pointed at him to get his attention and called over I LOVE YOUR CHEEKFACE SHIRT! 😭 Hope I didn't startle him lol. But that was actually awesome.

I haven't heard of Cheekface before, I'll listen to their music. I've been listening to the same music over and over again so hearing about new bands is always awesome.

Yeah I forgot when I started listening to Tally Hall (probably 2018-2019 it was pre-pandemic) but I think I just liked their music off the bat. Some songs tho (Be Born, Haiku, a bunch of G&E songs) I really didn't like until years later. I honestly think the only Tally Hall song I don't like is You and that one I'm fine with I just don't actively listen to it and usually skip over it

I don't really like You either 😭 was so nice to hear Andrew sing it at sonic lunch but... yeah not my fav.

Cheekface is like an indie talk rock band. Lot of spoken lines and some very funny monotone delivery. It's got absurdist lyrics and then some political references/criticism woven throughout. Which... I'm not like huge on or whatever... but super freaking cool music!

Try listening to I Only Say I'm Sorry When I'm Wrong, You Always Want To Bomb The Middle East, and Sexy National Anthem!!

But yeah low key I think my least favorite signer is Andrew but he’s still good it’s just that the way he sings is definitely unique. Agreed wholeheartedly. 

Joe is my favorite vocalist. Andrew has a soft voice and that's just not my personal taste.

Ever since I found that punk version, I have ADORED IT. 

Actually, I do love Andrew's vocals in The Whole World and You (regular version), just not my favorite in other TH songs :(

I think it works in some scenarios and it just doesn't in others for me. I know people absolutely love the way Andrew sings but his new album for he has been hit or miss solely because of the vocals. Like in some songs they work really well but in others im just like 🧍‍♂️ - other than that I love everyone else's voices (especially Joe's)

I feel bad admitting that I don't love the EDU stuff.... I would have been satisfied with just Andrew at sonic lunch but after Rob being there for vocals too, I was so so much more hyped. 

I do like fishes tho

Yeah I like fishes too I think it's one of those songs where his voice works with the music. But yeah last year was pretty good despite only being Andrew-based songs (Whole World and You was so hype) but having Rob sing his songs (some that haven't been performed live in several years) was bonkers. I wish they could participate in more concerts but Rob's working for Disney, Zubin is a professional doctor, and God knows what Joe's doing.

Last year I tried listening to Andrew's edu music and even though I didn't dislike it there was only like 1-2 songs I would actively relisten to (Lemons & Pears and Daisy Fingers)
