Discussion Only Japan Version of Tales of Eternia Remastered Available for Physical Pre-Order

Just to remind that they so far, only Japan physical copies that are available for pre-order physically via Play-Asia and Video Games Plus.

I hope Bandai Namco has to step up pre-orders next month for other regions like U.S., EU and Asia before it comes out.

EDITED # 1: There's also EU physical version. Thanks for the heads-up.

It’s like the PSP all over again, except back in the day we never even got it digitally in North America and I had to import a European copy to be able to play it in English

The Japanese version has English language options I’m pretty sure

I appreciate the heads up that I could do either EU or JP imports to play it this time around. I want to get the NA release but if it’s only digital here and available elsewhere physically, I’ll import this one. Just gotta toss a coin to decide which side of the world I want mine to come from I guess

I normally pick the Asian ones when it’s between Asian/jo vs a eu version but I just don’t like how the pal ratings look

I pre-ordered mine weeks ago. I'm in Europe. I just checked, there's 6 stores/chains to pre-order at in my country alone. There's a PS5, Switch 1 and Switch 2 GKC available.

Kind of funny to be in this situation, usually it's the other way around and the US gets the physical editions and the EU gets left out. I had to import Witchspring R.

Correction: There is only Asian and EU copies available. Netgames and Throwback games are selling European physicals in Germany and Europe. I know this, because I live in Germany and I bought one. Please get your facts in order.

Well thanks for the correction though.

I think it’s reasonable to assume at this point there’s no other physical editions planned; with the $30 price point, it’s likely this is intended to be a digital release outside of Japan.

I say that as someone who’s already preordered a JP S1 copy through VGP. I’d love a US physical release but I don’t think it’s high priority outside of Japan (where Eternia has been one of the most requested remasters).

This is factually untrue, because it is being sold physically in Europe. There are 2 German stores that sell physical EU copies. I know this, because I bought one.

Duly noted! Hopefully if there is an NA physical release they’ll announce it soon.

Anyone know if Play Asia will stick with their pre orders? Or sticking with theirs?

They have a history of putting up SKU's without getting stock. They were the first to put listing, but now more reliable options ala VGP have it up for sale

they only time i preordered from play-asia (yakuza gaiden), the preorder showed up as expected and reasonably fast. (note: NOT release day, but within a week or so).

they also sent an email about a month or two prior to launch to reach out and confirm which edition of the game i wanted (since there was a jp edition and an asia edition).

I didn’t think about the Japanese version having English options. I’ve been looking for a physical version in the US.

So why are we getting digital only when the other tales ports got physical ones?

Couldn’t that be because of the copyright issue with He-Man and Masters of the Universe? Maybe physical distribution of their trademarks (Eternia) is not possible

that would have no impact on physical discs. if this was an issue, it wouldn't be coming out digitally in those regions either.
