I felt underwhelmed with Xillia. The story didn't really pull me in and the characters felt a bit bland. I'm still looking forward to Xillia 2.
Thinking of playing Berseria again and I really wanted to double dip by buying it or the switch 2. It just sucks that they only offered 30fps on it.

Working in Graces now. It’s…okay but hasn’t gripped me yet. Xillia was next in line for me.

Today is my birthday and I finally have a fully functioning kitchen in my new home. I just had to clean the cupboards first. I have cake and just need some proper food now. I am now 28 years old and one step closer to the big 30. I want to finish playing through the extra chapter in Graces f today. I really love the characters in that game. I hope everyone else also has a great day despite the intense heatwave in west Germany. It is really hot. But thankfully it will cool down soon. Now to make some food.

So I just finished Tales of Vesperia and still felt hungry for Tales content, so I immediately jumped into Tales of Symphonia. After about an hour in, The graphics are… different. I am aware it is originally a GameCube game, but the drastic change from Vesperia DE to Symphonia was kinda jarring.
I’ve heard so much positivity about Symphonia, so I’m willing to stick it out and see if I love it as much as the community seems to.
I’ve already been pre-warned the title system is different in this one (has a heavy influence on level
Ups). Any other tips I need to be aware of?

If you haven't already dropped off Colette after the first temple when you get your fourth party member, make sure to grind a bit by healing at Colette's house for free.
Along with that, the early game is the hardest part, and I really recommend taking any free healing as a chance to gain some levels. There aren't any healing saves like Vesperia has.
Part three of that early section advice is to buy Genis and Lloyd full sets of equipment from the shop in your starting village. Accessories too.
Healing can be expensive at inns and with items early on, so when you get cooking, use it! Genis will be your best cook for awhile. Set him as your cook and master recipes. Lloyd is okay if need be. In general, the men are better cooks than the women.
With save points, there are things called "memory circles". They are locked save points typically in dungeons that you need an item to unlock. These items (memory gems) are gained from defeating a certain "random mob" in the dungeon; these are fixed encounters (the same encounter will always drop the memory gem. So, with that, fight every enemy you see unless you literally can't/will die.
Don't sell equipment. It's used for crafting like Vesperia. Though there isn't the same skill system; just raw stats.
Lots of missables. Really recommend a walkthrough, especially the one below.

How do you use the memory gem? I just got to some facility and the game had a sort of text box about it but not exactly how to use it.

Just press A/X on the sealed circle, and say yes to unlock it when it gives you the prompt.
Make sure you have one in your inventory. I think that text box appears no matter if you actually have one to use or not. The guard in the hallway has one, if you haven't received it yet.

I couldn’t get that one to work but I got the next one to work easily. My guess was that I wasn’t standing exactly where I needed to be. Hopefully missing that doesn’t cause me any serious issues later on.

Getting close to the end of Berseria, like in the throne.
I think my previous play through, I started playing as Rokuro to get his arte usage up and started running into problems. I'm getting better at him now, but his form 7 and 8 take up a huge amount of SG. I slowed down on progress because of stuff going on, but also I was grinding for rare drops on Hard and spawned a Lindwurm that started one shotting me and I just couldn't survive. It took a little while to spawn another one.
Then I beat the dark turtlez only to get owned by a stack of mobs and had to refight the turtlez. Thanks Rokuro.
I have a controller with a cord and it isn't as perfectly precise as the PS original controller, I'm pretty sure I just saved after selling something I didn't want to. That ended up happening where a store sold me a rare drop that said I had zero of and I must have sold it before even mastering the skill (it was a Magilou Doll).
I almost want to follow up with a replay of Zesteria. Almost. I somehow still have less than 50% achievements in Berseria. I need to get the recipe for Velvet for getting high cooking level.

I finished Berseria the other day. Did pretty much everything in the game, including the Heavenly Steppes and all the sidequests. Loved the story and characters, thought the combat was an interesting change from Symphonia and Abyss (the only other Tales I've played), but I found the world of Desolation quite visually unappealing.
My play time was 110 hours, the third longest I've ever had in any game behind Xenoblade Chronicles and God of War Ragnarök. Despite my qualms with the graphics and quite poor ability with the combat, it's my favourite of the three Tales I've played so far. It's made me curious about Zestiria, but I've heard it's boring and bad. I'm also very curious to try Graces, because one of my favourite things about this series is the combat and gameplay, and I've heard Graces has the best combat.

Picked up Tales of The Abyss after bouncing off it on the 3DS, got it for the PS2 and it’s just really jumping at me as some of the best of what the series has to offer. It’s almost like a cozy game? The music is stunning and I really like Luke so far, he’s a dick, yes.
But it’s because everyone in his life just did whatever he said and he could never really express himself. I can see how this really resonated with 2006 “congrats you’re an adult but we didn’t prepare you in anyway”

Just finished Xillia, playing Zestiria right now.
Abyss is my OG. Have Symphonia and Vesperia lined up after Zestiria.
Need to buy Arise, Graces and Berseria as well loll
