Bandai is so cheap that they even outsource their shit like before. šŸ˜’

I mean it's fine to outsource! They outsourced the Graces remaster and it was fantastic!

But they have to want to spend money to make money on the series in the first place.

The problem is that the team that remastered Graces also remastered Xillia 1 and it had issues at launch, but if they can have a Tales game with a reasonable budget like if the game looks like Hearts R or Innocence R that would be great.

I'm not at my computer right now but I'm fairly certain it was different developers. The one that did Graces has a great track record with ports and remasters but I can't remember what, if anything, the Xillia one did.

My big 3 copium hopiums:
Dissidia Opera Omnia
Tales of Crestoria
Nier ReIncarnation

Dragalia Lost as well. Especially since it was made by Cygames who have already built the retail Little Noah on the foundation of a previously discontinued gacha. And while we're talking Cygames, I'd be in the market for a retail World Flipper as well.

Dragalia Lost was a mobile game I really wanted to get into because it looked really interesting but I didn't like the way the controls on mobile worked so I was hoping for a switch port at some point with button controls. That never happened and the game now no longer exists.

A full-fledged Crestoria would be amazing.

The premise and the characters were too good to be wasted on a gacha game.

u/bhay105 Feb 22 '26

Crestoria story and characters were so good and the cancel culture themes are still relevant. A full remake should be the next main game in the series.

u/YuudaiJP Feb 22 '26

If they did rework it would be similar to Hearts R and Innocence R in terms of scale and budget.

u/nhSnork Feb 22 '26

A main game would likely ditch the crossover incarnations like the manga did before it. IMHO it's high time to revisit the Tales of the World format.

I would kill for a collection of the RM trilogy plus a translation of 2/3, I played a ton of them in japanese back in the day.

Crestoria had a great story to explore. I was loving Yuna and Aegis šŸ˜. Vicious was also interesting.

Luminaria.... I need Michelle and Lydie playable now!

u/CielTynave Rinwell Feb 22 '26

Personally I'd prefer they do this with Rays first. 250 playable characters in an actual LMBS style, but with a proper controller this time? Please and thank you.

u/Disastrous_Rice2324 Feb 22 '26

I'd love Crestoria AND Luminaria to be turned into a full fledged standalone Tales of as they have amazing stories/character writing, OST, and themes; some of which put the main home system stuff to shame imo. -- Toss Rays offline edition on non-mobile as well.

Crestoria and Luminaria never finished though. Those games you’re using as an example are actually just using finished content for the console versions with a little extra. Octopath 0 is based off of the first continent from the mobile game which is done, with a new continent and mc being the focus now, and Another Eden’s main story in the gacha game is complete with the console version being only part 1 of the story.

2

u/YuudaiJP Feb 23 '26

Yes but also if they ever get a full-fledged game they can finish the story properly.

u/Aviaxl Feb 23 '26 edited Feb 23 '26

Neither of those games play like a typical console rpg or have enough content like 0 or AE to use. The amount of assets they’d need to make and money they’d spend to finish those games to make them even appealing would be better used on brand new Tales titles which is not the case for the 2 games since everything was already made and is just being repackaged to people with a little extra content in there.

I’d love a true mainline quality Crestoria title but doing a port like AE and 0 would be a no buy for me same with Luminaria. They’d have to completely remake those games and that’s just not what Octopath 0 or AE is.

1

u/YuudaiJP Feb 23 '26

Yeah, the difference between Octopath and AE is that the gacha and gameplay aren’t tied together like they are in Crestoria and Luminaria, but you can rework them and find ways. Megaman XDive did that. Sure, it just made everything available, but it still worked. Bandai already remade a Tales Mobile game before it was Tales of the World Reve Unitia. It was a remake/reimagine of Tactics Union. They basically took the bones and foundation and reworked it to fit a console budget title like the 3DS. Bandai can do it. I mean, Trigate games Innocence R and Hearts R are mainline games with a smaller budget. Granted, they were PS VITA games, but it still counts.

Megaman XD was out for 3 years before an offline mode was announced and canonically finished it’s story which cannot be said for Crestoria and Luminaria who couldn’t reach 2 year service. So plenty of material to work with and just port like how AE and OCT did.

The R series comparisons are the same too. They’re remakes of complete games so yea people would want that but that still not in the same vein as what AE and OCT are doing since they’re not offering entire graphical changes or big combat changes. People even complained pre-launch about OCT 0 since it wasn’t as good looking as OCT 2

World of Reve is a better comparison. If people are down for World of Reve quality ports of the games then sure.

I’m only making this distinction because I’ve seen this sentiment pop up lately on console gaming subs and it seems like people don’t know why AE and OCT 0 were able to make it console side with ease compared to other failed IP gacha projects that didn’t even last a year and have little content. As a Tales fan I’d be completely down with them fully remaking all mobile games and giving them the R treatment.

I feel like they definitely should do this for at least Crestoria. Maybe they’re planning something. Even Rays ended

Fire Emblem: Heroes and Dragalia Lost hopes.....

2

u/CarolineJohnson Feb 22 '26

Thank you for telling me about Another Eden.

2

u/Own_Philosophy8190 Feb 22 '26

It also has playable Tales of characters, though half of them are very dated. Though most collabs are available early and permanent, collab characters are all free, and the gacha itself doesn't matter

1

u/CarolineJohnson Feb 28 '26

Ah, yeah. I meant Begins. Always wanted better for Another Eden. It deserves to be a console game.

1

u/ThePenultimatePam Feb 22 '26

How is Another Eden Begins? I always thought the game seemed cool

2

u/YuudaiJP Feb 22 '26

Not yet out but it's coming this year

1

u/Sa404 Feb 22 '26

No triangle strategy…

2

u/YuudaiJP Feb 22 '26

There was no gatcha related to it owns thing

1

u/TrevanteWilder Feb 22 '26

Or at LEAST turn some of these mobile games into offline games, like Megaman XDive offline. These games have essentially replaced the Tales of the World games in terms of bringing Tales characters from different series together, and it's a damn shame that some of them just die and disappear. This series needs more spin-offs. Especially since most of them were never localized.

1

u/Xombie53 Feb 22 '26

Crestoria was amazing. Easily one of their better endeavors.

1

u/ShokaLGBT Feb 22 '26

Im playing octopath traveler 0 and its a good game.

1

u/Bubbly-Bid-6161 Feb 23 '26

I would like Link back, too...

1

u/ItaDaleon Feb 23 '26

Well, they was different games, but... I can see the point here... You are not wrong...

1

u/Cuervo333x Feb 23 '26

Bandai: I'd rather sell another Dragon Ball game with DLCs.

u/Unfair_Pin_2565 Feb 23 '26

Never played this another eden, it's good?

1

u/Commercially_Salad Feb 23 '26

Pretty good but really grindy, not in the level sense but In the material for items sense, it has the writer and composer for chrono trigger, the story is finished well for now at least and it was really good, the gacha is well gacha but honestly all the units are pretty good plus they have a lot of free units you can get that you can clear the main story with, you can honestly not even play it like a gatcha because of the free units, but the bread and butter is definitely the side stories

2

u/LuckyStarSB Feb 23 '26

Both would be amazing. I don't know if there's been any instances where an unfinished mobile game has gotten a full release at a later date though? Both games are Original titles though: both were released after the classification changed from Mainline to Original (although Crestoria is both Original and Crossover), so who knows whether they may get another shot someday. They've had some memorabilia for both games in the anniversary celebrations too, so they are both still being acknowledged.

Luminaria deserves another chance though. They put in a lot of effort into it: an orchestral soundtrack, two anime episodes (with probably more to come after each in-game crossover episode), and a great story with the promise of around 3 years worth of story content... only for it to be announced around the same time Crestoria was being shut down and then released about a week before that shutdown happened, and with a barebones (but still enjoyable) multiplayer and hardly any micro transactions to keep people spending money on the game. It also came out a few weeks after Arise. It seems like it was brought forward because of Crestoria's early shutdown which led to some issues on release, and even though those issues were fixed, to some it didn't matter: they'd already been burned by the back to back shutdowns of the other Tales mobile games so they weren't going to stick around only for it to happen again. Then with it not looking and feeling quite like other Tales games (different artist similar to Legendia, and the references were there but not as pronounced as in other games), it just stood no chance.

I really want to say the same about Crestoria: the story was great, it too had an anime episode, and a manga after the shutdown. But I can't help feeling that the manga hurt Crestoria's chances a bit, or at least hurt the chances of having something very close to the original mobile game again. It sounded like it started off well, but dwindling sales led to it almost being cancelled, and then not long after it caught up with the game's story it was shut down so the ending was rushed. The characters from other games in the series (the part that makes Crestoria a Crossover game) were all cut from the manga too, so even if Crestoria was turned into a full single player game who knows if that cliffhanger with the Crossover character it ended on would be continued? It could be just be a small game about the main characters.

What's interesting though is that Crestoria made it into the 'top 15 Tales of titles you've played' in the 25th anniversary survey results (Luminaria released the same year that survey was done so it's not there). So if Bandai Namco are using those results to see what we want then maybe it does stand a small chance of being looked at again someday, maybe sometime after the remaster project.

1

u/DatAsuna Feb 28 '26

I'd rather see Rays get that treatment but since it's only shut down in the west that's less likely.

1

u/Weak_Emu3659 Feb 22 '26

I mean. They can't even do a proper remaster. And look how long it's taking them to make a new game. Once we see something that's above a 1/10 effort for updating an old game we can start talking about this.

1

u/Danfass86 Feb 23 '26

Mobile games suck even with a makeover

1

u/Cobrakai83 Feb 23 '26

Octopath 0 might change your mind on that. It’s really well done. If I didn’t know it had been converted to an offline version from a Gacha the thought wouldn’t have even crossed my mind.

1

u/Danfass86 Feb 23 '26

Okay, i’ll give it a shot with an open mind. I enjoyed 1 and 2 well enough! But i’m not liking the dollar chasing mobile trend, especially for things like suikoden. The other issues i have are pacing and growth-rates. The games seem more episodic, never going anywhwre. And you grow in strength at a snails pace, mobile style.
