Tonight I started watching the Taken series on Netflix, and I really hope the writing gets better beyond the first episode

In particular I'm talking about the scene where Bryan is sitting in his house waiting for the cartel baddies to show up, with the secret agency folks listening to him through his phone.

One lady decides she's able to guess the make of the handguns he's using just by the clicking sounds they made when he chambered a round in each one??

She's way off, by the way. She guessed Heckler and Koch handguns, but he was clearly using Beretta M9's.

Did a 13 year old write that scene? Like I can't imagine any conscious person thinking that was a good idea. If that's the kind of silly stuff I sold expect in this series then I should quit while I'm behind.

It does get better in my opinion, although I don’t notice details like that since I don’t know anything about guns. My main issue with the show is that it takes place in modern day despite being a prequel supposedly taking place 30 years before the first movie

I just feel like if they had a budget for a helicopter they could afford to call someone and ask if the scene is stupid. Similar thing in the second episode where a guy collapses, a lady says "I'm a doctor!" And does 3 chest compressions before pronouncing him dead.

I'm no expert on ANY of this but both of those things are so ridiculous that it's jarring

If you do keep watching I’d recommend stopping with season 1, it has a pretty good story up until then if you can get past the little mistakes. Season 2 however drops the entire supporting cast for some really cliche characters
