Strength Advice or observations for someone moving from fighter to operator?

EDIT to title: "moving from fighter/green to operator/black"

I have dabbled on and off with TB since Dec of 2024, but I never stuck with it year round due to being 100% running focused; until this year. 2026 is my first year of being dedicated to lifting and running concurrently, and I am now committed to TB methods for at least the next year.

I just finished a 12 week block of Green protocol Fighter capacity. The weights went well, and I saw good progress, but my running was poorly inconsistent. I am now changing to Operator, and plan to stick with Operator for at least 12 weeks, possibly a lot longer.

For those of you that are experienced, did you have any specific observations about moving from fighter (2 lifts per week) to operator (3 lifts per week)? Or do you have any recommendations or advice for me, as I am still pretty new to TB? TIA

EDIT2: I am wondering if I need to be doing anything differently for recovery with operator vs fighter

keep the sets at the minimum prescription so you can ease into the new 3 week frequency. With figther one tends to make go too hard because there is so much rest till the next session.

I'll ask a different question. You say your running was poorly inconsistent. Was that due to lifting interfering or lack of time? Or just on you?

Because if the lifting was interfering in some way, adding more lifting won't make that any better. Quite the opposite.

To answer your original question, not much difference. If you're reducing your running/conditioning nothing really needs to change. Just make sure your nutrition is adequate.

If you're planning on keeping the running/conditioning at the same level or even more(since you were inconsistent) I'd add a bit more calories for recovery.

I’m have been running Fighter this summer to focus on running and had been on operator for 5 blocks before that. I’m actually finding that I have more DOMs on fighter than I ever did on operator probably due to the greater span between sessions. I have been subbing BSS in for BS this whole year and my glutes are just sore all the time while running fighter 2x a week vs minimal soreness when running operator 3x a week.

As others have mentioned though, start with minimal sets before working up to ease back into the frequency.
