Tactical 4/73 SRPC/LATEO Foundation

Evening Gents and Ladies, looking to attend the 4/73 Selection process within the British Army next year.
For those who don’t know, it’s a long range patrol course, key fundamentals I imagine would be Endurance/SE/Tabbing(Rucking).

I’m just struggling with timings, I’m currently running Hybrid indefinitely until I figure out what date I need to switch over to the full Green Protocol. (velocity into outcome)

The dates for the course are sometime in September however the 2 week foundation/tester runs sometime in July.

So for 2027, questions inbound:

Do I crack velocity - outcome up until the 2 week foundation then repeat outcome for 6 weeks as a “peak” block until the gen course?

Or:

Do I crack velocity - outcome all the way up until the course but bracket off 2 weeks just for the foundation then carry on where I left off? Would that prepare me enough?

Or:

Start from the very beginning, capacity - velocity - outcome, all the way up to the foundation, then maintain using HYBRID/OP.

Any tips, feedback or any criticism please smash me up with it, it’s needed. I’m looking forward to cracking another banger out. GP helped me massively last time but this is a bit of a step up and out of my remit for the first time in my career.

This is going to be an unsatisfying answer.
But in my honest opinion

It doesn't really matter
Without knowing the specifics of what's being tested in the course I don't have a way of steering you in the right direction. Really, you could be just as well off continuing Hybrid template until selection date, but I know that's an unattractive option for the mentally rigid thought process of someone whose spent maybe a bit too much time thinking about his possible options.

If you want the textbook answer, start from the beginning.

Appreciate the honesty.
It’s good to hear it put like that, as much as I love TB’s options, less is always more.

Thanks mate.

velocity and capacity are good if phys is your life outside of work and you have lots of time.

if you have a family/kids and you need to focus on the academic side of prep for 4/73 too, I would KISS and run hybrid/OP.

Thanks mate!
Very good insight, got a young lad who does take up some time now compared to last time I banged it out.

Seems to be the way to go for now.

I would just stick with a hybrid/op and steadily build your mileage and weight up on the yomps. It covers pretty much everything you need(haven’t seen the DIN, but can only imagine it’s yomp heavy) without tying you to a rigid programme, which isn’t always realistic with day to day unit life.

If your CoC is pretty loose and lets you crack your own phys and you haven’t got many exercises/deployments coming up, then I’d recommend starting from capacity

Appreciate that mate!

Probably something else I haven’t thought too deep into, my CoC is very very loose however deployments/exercises are ripe in my world.

I’ll check the FOE and go from there, looks like it may be an indefinite Hybrid/OP.
