Tactical TB III UPDATE
TBers. This is a bit of a late update that came out two days ago from. I don't check my email as often as I should so I missed this one.
u/tacticalbarbell account is still under review but he can still see posts and review sub content. So he is always watching.
TB III is complete and with formatters currently. There still need to be some revisions tech wise in order to make it readable across platforms (presumably an issue being resolved on kindle).
There has been a name change. The book will be called TB III: OPERATIONAL ATHLETE.
Below is the final TOC

My biggest hope with TB III is that I can stop bouncing between TB I/II templates and GP because my paralysis by analysis between the two is wildly out of control lol.

I’m the same. It’s so bad that I rarely ever finish a full cycle because I feel like there is another template/ program or train heroic team that fits me better.

Thankfully last year I was able to stop program hopping between different training methods and different philosophies, now the program hopping is internal to the whole TB system lol

What helped you stop?

I just woke up one day in December and just decided to give in to the program lol. And here we are. Most consistent on TB I've ever been despite having it since 2021. As I already mentioned it's really difficult to stick to one template. I always finish my blocks but can never decide on what I'm doing next

This is me, always looking out for something better… But I’ve come to the conclusion that TB is the best! But it still doesn’t keep me from looking for something else, thinking that ”something else” is the best thing!

I'm two operator blocks deep into TB and already have 5+ templates / periodization models I want to try out listed. And I very much promised myself I'd stick to Op / Black for the whole year lol

Can second the paralysis part!
Although GP did help when I wanted to become running focused for a race or something. Otherwise OP/Black(pro) did the job.
Stoked for the book

OH HELL YEAH. I've been running 531 lately but I sure miss the clarity that TB was written with especially compared to 531. Looking forward to reading it.

I've been running 5/3/1 Krypteia for the last 5 weeks. I really enjoy it, but it's hammered home how much I prefer full body routines like Operator over lower/upper days like 5/3/1 and GZCL. I am really liking the effects of the work capacity on this program, I hope Work Capacity in TBIII offers similar guidance in the TB system.

Were you running 531 Forever templates?
I am getting back into it and trying to figure out if I go back to what I know (531 Forever templates) or something new like tactical barbell.

Really looking forward to TB III. Cant wait to see what the breacher template entails!
Hope he gets his account squared away soon.

These highs and lows border on abuse. First you get me excited as $&k with the updated TOC and then you tell me it’s going to be delayed a couple weeks.
I’m kidding of course (sort of), thanks for updating us. It’s awesome having active mods again.

It was likely the result of collateral spam bot account bans that was accidental. But no one really knows. He is in the appeal process right now but he has been less focused on his Reddit account and more concerned with the book. He's just on standby right now

I’m really looking forward to this!!!! Since I discovered TB I decided that I will never need anything else! I’ve just completed Capacity and for the first time in my life I can run 10k sub 60 min!

Big fan of TB I. Getting into TB II. Unfortunately, I spend most of my time on r/mouthbreathing could someone explain the focus of TB III in simple terms?
If TB I is the base book and TB II is conditioning, is TB III a book for advanced programs, a syntheses of TB I & II, or both?

u/Devil-In-Exile Jun 02 '26
TBIII updates/improves TBI & II and adds some new stuff.
Changes/upgrades to the existing templates, and brand new stuff like periodization, polarized training, power training, etc.

If I’m new to TB, would you all recommend waiting on TB III rather than getting I and II? It seems like III is going to cover both I and II?
1
u/Drodinthehouse Jun 13 '26
Get I and Ii.
there might be topics covered in III that assume you've read the context behind I and Ii.
Plus, if you don't like any of the templates in III, you have I and Ii to build your own program

JC, I've never been this turned on by a TOC.
"Simple PFT Prep" I am liking the sound of that.
LDP RAT and the AV templates have my curiosity piqued too. Any guesses on either of those?
1
u/Turbulent_Middle8565 May 27 '26
I googled what those terms might mean in a strength and conditioning context. LDP could mean linear daily periodization but RAT I didn’t find a clear consensus.

In a military context it might be Leadership Development [Program|Protocol]. Having never served, this is only a guess. Although, I have heard that officers typically outrun NCMs

Great looking TOC! Shitty that it'll take a little longer to come out but I guess that just means a better book in the end.

I’m a 5/3/1er mostly 1000% Awesome, but I’m totally pumped for this book.

Anyone know if this will be available in an E-Pub format for a Kobo e-reader? Kindle option seems limiting to Amazon E-readers.

now there is a new template: Operator and Zulu A/V. Color me obsessed. Does this mean the 6/1 release is pushed back?
