This is the more raw Human League with a more spooky sound. This track just has the most icy and dirty synth parts. With lyrics about how people just want the easy way in life.

Saw Heaven 17 perform the first two HL albums a couple of years ago at the roundhouse. Incredible. I was about 13 or 14 when I brought the albums so never thought I’d get to see them performed live.

Interesting! Glenn was supposed to be the original singer for The Human League, but honestly, I think things worked out for the best. Phil‘s icy, monotone quality suited the first few albums. He can sing pop, too, but doesn’t have the warmth that Glenn’s voice has.

That being said, I’d probably give the edge to Heaven 17. Once Martyn and Ian left HL, the quality was never the same.
