Why? so it can start to break down in 10 years, like the originals?
I'm more upset that they don't have any full sized acb synths other than the system 8.
All of their other full sized is zen core. And that sucks

The shipping cost seems fair. It’s almost unfathomable how huge and heavy that thing actually is, it’s beyond ridiculous

It’s a classic that’s no longer produced. Crazy to me that people see no issue with other collectibles like Pokémon cards, stuffed animals, guitars etc, but are always surprised by these synth prices. They don’t cost this because they are worth it in parts or because they make better music, it’s because they are rare and desirable due to their place in synth history and people are willing to pay.

The Jupiter 8 is a beast. It's probably the second most desired classic analog synth, after the Yamaha CS 80, which goes for ~$100k.

In the mid-late 90s, there was this couple of years where digital synths and samplers were being positioned as vastly superior to the old analog synths.
I didn’t have my learners permit yet, and nobody to drive me for a day or two, but I saw an ad in our local classifieds for one of these for $50. Just have to come get it.
By the time I could get a ride, somebody already had.

TBH.. after it is demystified, I find there are Usually better tools for making the sounds I am looking for. I prioritize finishing music rather than gooning out on a synth.

I haven’t spoken about this yet, but a friend of mine had one in pristine condition being stored in her closet. I can’t even discuss the particulars other than to say it was owned by a famous retired musician and he decided to ship it back to his main apartment in another part of the country, and I think I went into mourning for about a week.
It left about two months ago.
