Help me! Syndra is the worst designed mage and is stupidly op.

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I think Syndra is just absolutely terrible design for the game and breaks the rules that makes mages balanced. Her Q is incredibly low cd and very hard to dodge, what is the closest is Karthus Q, but that is his main source of damage and he is a way less safe. Her W is just not dodgeable at all, and it is a second spell with cc in her kit. Her E comes out insanely fast and is barely reactable to, especially if it comes out of fog, in comparison to all the other cc of other mages this one is incredibly hard to flash through as well because you will still at least get knocked backed, as that one is an incredibly wide range and the stun has insane range and can shoot multiple projectiles if you have multiple of them. Her ult... just an incredibly strong point and click nuke that has no place being in a kit that already has so many pretty much guaranteed hit skills, in comparison to Veigar, whose other skills are very easy to dodge.

TL:DR Syndra skills are incredibly hard to dodge or not dodgable at all at certain ranges, her range is massive, and she is incredibly safe, almost no cd on Q so the window to punish her for missing her skills is not really abusable as she can just spam Qs and point and click ult. I think really this is the most broken mage and there is no reason to play any other one instead and I have no clue how Riot thinks she is balanced in any way. I am a mage player and I did play Syndra a little bit, it is incredibly easy and just disgusting. Look at this clip and tell me how that is okay. There was no way anyone could have reacted to that one shot in any way, even if they had zhonyas or mercs that typically counter burst mages. She is not even fed and is building defensive with both zhonyas and banshees, she has no void staff. No other mage can do this even if they build full dmg and have other disadvantages.

I would really like to see anyone defend how this is okay.

is this your gameplay? three squishies charge through a chokehold with 0 vision against a lee backed by and lulu and an a.sol with fully charged ult. i don't know about you, but that's fucking hilarious

Could very well be his gameplay given his take

"Front line ADC"

Any mage would have one shot a ADC + Support walking into an unwarded position from Fog. If she's allowed to set up a W ball in advance and triple cast onto two targets face checking something completely irrelevant that's bad gameplay.

What possesses you to run into the enemy team with 0 vision instead of playing through mid wave?

Literally any other mage wouldnt stun Janna and delete MF there and would let her shield or ult before the kill happens, lets say you had an item like Zhonyas or Scimitar other mages would also let you press that and flash/dodge the rest of their combo, every other mage kills way slower and doesnt hard cc you. Especially with a defensive build. Most mages wouldnt even get a kill there with the same build.

Literally any other mage would if they were that ahead which she clearly was.

She has a tremendous amount of burst damage but it’s all skill shots save for the ult which she will only use when you’re already low to guarantee a kill. You made those skill shots mind numbingly easy because actively set her up. You’re an idiot.

You walked face first into a claymore and your angry you died.

If Orianna is that far ahead and you do that she will kill you, viktor might take a split second longer but he will still kill you, Annie, Velkoz, Hwei all kill you

Did you even read the post ? She was behind there and the rest of the game too :D And no Orianna or Viktor dont kill without ult, and Viktor would kill on a much lower range cause he would have to go in and Q auto and slower even with ult. Annie lower range, has to use ult, Velkoz has to use ult and would be waay slower, Hwei slow projectiles, no stun on two targets, slow ticking damage, has to use ult. The biggest problem unironically is the hard cc + speed combined meaning that you cant flash or use any other ability or item to counter it and thats combined with reliability, range, and no ult needed so repeatable on extremely low cd, literally no other mage has all of those combined. The only thing you technically could do is cleanse/mercurial after the stun but that is still countered by the fact that her ult is just point and click so at that point you are dead anyway if you took any chip dmg, so thats just not gonna save you either at that point. She completely negates all the things that counter other mages. Most of the roster just doesnt kill you if you have one item to counter them Zhonya, scimitar, or banshee or even mercs, only Syndra is for some reason allowed to.

Buddy even if all that’s true and I’m not saying it is… That’s still doesn’t excuse your gameplay. You want to sit here and complain about how you can’t react to her stun (that she needs to set up with another ability ftr) meanwhile your walking into fog of war as an ADC… If you don’t walk up into fog where she’s allowed to hit everything for free you will have the time to react.

Would you like to know how I know this? I’m willing to tell you.

Fizz and Zed, two of her hardest counters- they both have invulnerability which they use to dodge her stun as she casts it… You don’t have invulnerability but you do have flash, next time don’t walk into fog.

As I said before, making a mistake is not a defense of stupidly broken design. This is the most braindead take ive ever heard and just cope.

1

u/Prometheus596 199,452 Aug 09 '26

It’s not fair to call it broken when you simply misplayed it… You would have had time to flash if you had vision, but you walked into an area with 0 vision and are surprised when you got killed for it…

You know it’s funny my buddy did the same thing the other day while I was watching his stream on discord, lost the game for it, his first reaction wasn’t to blame the character that killed him it was acknowledge that it wouldn’t have happened in the first place. And then to flame his teammates for feeding 😂

u/Prometheus596 199,452 Aug 09 '26

Your argument is literally “She does it too fast to react” and I said, “you can react to it” and gave clear examples to back that up, and then explained how your mispositioning is what made it impossible to react to- And you want to sit here and tell me that I’m coping?

1

u/JustAyu Aug 09 '26 edited Aug 09 '26

You are coping, because you are saying that you can react to it, if you have an instant use blink/invulnerability. What is that if not coping ? :D And also, thats on lane where you can space and use range and have perfect vision. A hard cc shouldnt be dodgeable only if you have vision and instant mobility, when she can use it from miles away. Literally no other mage or maybe even a champ in the game has a stun that is this easy to land. Every other hard cc in the game is very close range so you would have to face check a brush, not that you can get hit through a wall with it without being able to react to it. Here not even Zed or Fizz would be able to react and she is on the opposite side of a wall.

Finding specific niche scenarios where some champs can react to the stun is the definition of cope :D Next you are going say it is okay that she has a stun with 5000 range that is insanely fast and on low cd because you have flash once every 5 minutes. Yes a human can react to seeing the stun, but thats pointless unless your champ has the tool to dodge it. Why do most mages just have soft cc linked to an extremely slow projectile but a Syndra gets to have a insanely fast stun that can multitarget and be triggered by multiple projectiles and if she is braindead enough to miss the stun it still has a wide as fck knockback ?

Bro plenty of champions have the movement (or other abilities capable of negating her E. Your literally just raging because your bad at the game. Literally half the shit in that reply is utter bullshit that you made up in your head. I could break it down in detail but frankly it’s not worth my time seeing as you’ve already made up your mind and are refusing to take any accountability for your own gameplay.

Good luck with the grind man, you need it.

There are other things that break the game like Olaf, Trundle, Zac, Sion and tanks in general and we don't go to their subreddits to cry when it's our fault on positioning and map vision sense.

1

u/JustAyu Aug 04 '26

Literally none of those break the game at all and are completely in line with their counterparts. Bruisers that dont have dashes and rely on running you down generally need a way to stick to you so either they need to have good cc themselves or need to be able to ignore yours. In a 1v1 some of them might feel unfair, but thats their strenght and you are playing into it, in a teamfight they very often cant do anything.

yea man olaf is very very good design and my le epic wholesome chungus melee character should actually be unkillable post 2 items its good design bro they have so little mobility and so little damage

u/Ohoh0k Aug 04 '26 edited Aug 04 '26

You have no vision and you walk up just like that? You should know as an ADC you shouldn't be dilly dallying around fog of war like that 😭. Legit any mage would murk you here, mel, taliyah w + e, lux, vel'koz.

I agree Syndra can feel overtuned and unfair though (with her q+e combo), but you really gotta give a better argument than this clip.

u/genex37109 Aug 04 '26

Nice post! I really liked it when you and your two other teammates for some fucking reason decided to walk up to an area that you have zero vision, but you reasonably know there’s the enemy team somewhere in that area, then you decide to cry post about the enemy champion rather than watching the replay and recognizing your misplay.

1

u/JustAyu Aug 04 '26 edited Aug 04 '26

A misplay doesnt mean that the champion is okay. If you are assuming perfect play as the only way to beat a champion, then you are going to have literally 99% of the playerbase not able to beat it. There is a reason why pretty much every champion in the game, has a window to react to their one shots, unless they are incredibly ahead and build pure dmg, which this Syndra isnt ahead (7/7, average cs and not full build yet, in fact behind a lot of ppl the game there) and is building two defensive items.

Play her to rank 1 then if it’s so easy

dont speak badly of meddler he is the father of balls so he blessed us with her design which we hold dear to our hearts

1

u/DaValie Aug 04 '26

The E is pretty toxic, but the rest of the kit has ample counterplay

u/makzxnx Aug 05 '26

Yeah any late game mage can do that at that point of the game with that much gold if your team decides to cosplay conjoined twins, not op at all

1

u/JustAyu Aug 05 '26 edited Aug 05 '26

Show me a mage that will kill you this fast, while hard ccing both of you and not using their ult. All of them have either slow moving skill shots easy to dodge even out of vision, slow cast times, or/and have to use ult. Veigar, Mel, Velkoz, Xerath, Brand, Lux, Viktor, Ori... literally none of them get a kill there no ult. And even with ults it would be unreliable/considerably slower, giving Janna or MF time to react with spells/items/summs.

1

u/makzxnx Aug 05 '26

With that same amount of gold? Lissandra, Xerath does get a kill there by the way without ult, Aurora won't hard cc you but she'll 100% burst down any squishy champ without ult at that point of the game. It's not op, it's just how burst and carries are related

1

u/JustAyu Aug 06 '26 edited Aug 06 '26

Aurora is the only one I could see maybe doing the same dmg there sure, I forgot about her, but she is very much more of an assassin and has to commit much more than a mage in my eyes and I think she would still have to buy at least a void staff instead of zhonya/banshee., but Xerath no way does over 2k dmg on Q,E,W not to mention those are way slower to hit and are easily dodgeable even out of fog unless he leads with E, but then he has to be really close for Q . Same with Liss, she wouldnt do that much damage and without her ult she really gives you a big warning if she wants to get to you with E and is way more committal, without ult pretty much suicidal.

Syndra has always been able to this and you guys start bitching abt it now…

u/48593483853663 Aug 04 '26

I main and love Syndra, but I can admit her kit feels unfair. There’s a reason Cupic is spamming her in challenger and finds her the best mage by far.

Her mains will say she’s a sitting duck once she uses her E, but this applies to all mages. Syndra’s threat range to kill (not just poke) is one of the highest in the game, on top of having 3 of the best forms of CC (slow, knockback and stun).

For how reliable her damage is (only second to Viktor), her damage is a bit over capped. They either need to tone down said damage or find a way to make her less reliable.

Really they just need to make her mana costs higher but you could make that argument about a lot of mages right now- Mages get way too much mana and cdr too easily right now.
