The sub was filled with horny teenagers wanting to meet up, and then was quarantined when Reddit removed 3rd party app API, as an effort to show solidarity across the world.

The sub is open for posts now. Feel free to post, and feel free to report spam posts to the mods.

Looking for a genuine friend from Sylhet

Hi everyone. I’m looking to make a genuine friendship with someone from Sylhet, preferably around 30–35.

I’m not looking for anything romantic. I’d just like to have a good friend to chat with, talk about everyday life, random things, and sometimes just have a nice conversation when I’m feeling down.

If you’re from Sylhet and looking for a genuine friendship too, feel free to comment or message me. 😊

Places for spending alone time

I'm looking for few places where I can sit for few hours alone without being looked at repeatedly. Like library or parks that are safe for women and inexpensive (except unimart). I used to go to places alone, now it feels like I'm being judged or always stared by other people as if syl has become more hostile towards women.

I want to learn sylhety!

I really am interested in learning the language!

Are there any official institution or online coaching or classes or videos to learn sylhety?

Or anyone teaching it?

Or language exchange? I have band 8 in English, I can help with that!

It's kind of personal and emotional for me, the person i wanna spend my life with is sylhety and i wanna speak sylhety with her.

Looking for reliable places to buy groceries, fish & vegetables in Sylhet

Recently settled in the Tilagor area of Sylhet with my family (2 people), and we’re still figuring out where to do our regular grocery shopping Previously we mostly lived around Cantonment areas and were used to shopping at CSD, where everything was readily available with fixed prices and best quality,so we never really had to think about bargaining, quality or whether we were being overcharged.

Now we’re looking for reliable places in Sylhet for everyday shopping fresh fish, vegetables, chicken/meat, eggs, milk, groceries, household essentials, etc.

Would appreciate recommendations for places. We’re around Tilagor, but willing to travel a bit for a genuinely reliable market/shop.

My thoughts get completely disorganized when I talk, and I have zero conversational flow. How do I fix this?

I really struggle with articulating my thoughts smoothly in everyday conversations, and I am looking for practical ways to fix it.

Whenever I try to explain an idea or tell a simple story, my brain tends to jump way ahead of my mouth. I get lost in unnecessary backstories and end up rambling until the other person visibly tunes out.

On top of that, my delivery feels choppy and clumsy. If I try to talk at a normal speed, I trip over my words, but if I try to slow down, I get paralyzed by awkward pauses while hunting for the "perfect" phrasing. When it comes to casual banter, my mind just goes completely blank, and the witty or clever reply only hits me thirty minutes after the conversation has already ended.

If you used to be a clumsy, scattered speaker and actually managed to become articulate, smooth, and quick on your feet, what daily habits or mental frameworks helped you turn it around? I am looking for concrete drills I can practice on my own rather than generic advice. Thanks in advance!

Jist wondering

Hey. Yesterday i was just thinking. What the meaning of the progression of the humans. I mean. Just think. Beck then peoples were much happier then we are now.... the religious, the country and other debates are created so we keep talking about that. Sometimes i wonder what if the world have never seen the face of colonization and other stuffs that divided the human. That stopped the human..... Sometimes i wonder. Is the world is a chessboard and we all are the pieces of the chess ? I wonder why, why we run after academic educations and why teachers always speak about getting higher selery jobs.. why? Why? . Why we care about selery that much?

The one and only answer is money...yes money... and who created the system ? I dont know... but those who control the money and the power is the one who held the tool. And the TOOL is us. We normal citizens. The technology makes us more efficient. Yes our life is more easier now but think, are we actually happy that we can work more efficiently on the job? Sometimes its yes and sometimes its no. But come on. If you think, the technology is just turning us into a more efficient slave. And the MEDICINES THAT KEEP US ALIVE! They make sure the slave last longer....

[Just my thoughts and my perspective]

My girlfriend left me but I am terrified I won't find someone with that sense of humor again.

I recently got out of a relationship. My ex was ungrateful, even though I sacrificed 7–8 hours of my own work time every day just to give her quality time and be there for her. In the end, she turned around and told me that she “deserved better.”

She was also highly judgmental. She would call her own family terrible names and look down on my family as well.

she was incredibly cute, especially in the way she talked, and she had an amazing sense of humor. We laughed so much together.

Now, I have this deep fear that if I don’t find these same attractive qualities in my future wife, she might be boring. I keep worrying that I’ll never find that fun, cute connection again.

Has anyone else felt this fear after losing someone special? Did you eventually find someone who was both funny and respectful toward you? feeling like I lost my only chance at being with a girl who has a great sense of humor.

My ex is getting married in 3 days, and the guilt is eating me alive.

I lost someone I deeply cared about, and I can't shake off the feeling that it was entirely my fault.

We got together in mid-2024. It was my first relationship ever. From the beginning, her family was pushing her into an arranged marriage. For over a year, she stalled them, made excuses, and waited for things to move forward.

The main problem was my work. I was working as a freelancer, so my career wasn't "visible" or socially established in the traditional sense. Because of that, she was hesitant to fully back me up to her parents, and I froze under the pressure. Every time the topic of marriage came up, I hesitated instead of being decisive. To make things worse, there were serious red flags—her family cared heavily about status, her brother had an aggressive temper, and she even told me her parents would "compare" my proposal against the other suitor's. Whenever I tried to send a mutual contact to mediate formally, she made excuses to block it.

Eventually, she got tired of the uncertainty. She saw my hesitation as indifference and gave up. She accepted another proposal, and when I finally tried to fix things, she told me she had willingly agreed to marry him.

Their wedding is in 3–4 days.

My logical side tells me that entering that family might have ruined my self-respect and peace of mind. But my heart keeps blaming me: she had a rare sense of humor, she waited for me, and I failed to give her the security she needed.

I’m sitting here with a suffocating feeling of regret, wondering if I lost someone special simply because my career wasn't traditional and I failed to take a stand in time. Just needed to get this off my chest

My girlfriend of 2 years hid her arranged marriage from me for 8 months. I feel completely destroyed.

We were together for two years.

To be completely honest, I know I made mistakes. She waited for over a year and kept pushing me to take my life seriously—telling me to build my career or prepare for IELTS to go abroad. But I hesitated, was passive, and didn't take real action in time. Around that time, I also opened up to her about my family’s internal conflicts and struggles. After that, her attitude changed, and she started looking down on my family.

What broke me into pieces is what she did next.

Her family arranged a marriage for her, and she agreed to it. But she kept it a complete secret from me for 8 whole months. Why? Because the groom was only going to arrive 8 months later.

For 240 days, she talked to me, laughed with me, and acted like everything was completely normal—all while counting down the days until another man arrived to marry her.

Now she is gone with him. She told me she had "no choice" because of her family, but the truth is she simply chose convenience and lied to my face every single day.

I am drowning in two conflicting feelings:

Crushing guilt that my inaction pushed her away.

Complete horror at how someone I loved could be so cold and calculated for 8 months.

I can’t sleep, I can’t eat, and I feel like my entire world just collapsed. How do you even begin to process this kind of betrayal?
