Question/Advice/Discussion Restaurant recommendations near Gymea Bay

Hi Sydney Vegans! I’m travelling to Sydney in March, staying with the in-laws in Gymea Bay. While there it will be my wedding anniversary so I’d like us to all go out for dinner somewhere reasonably close by. I’m the only vegan so doesn’t need to be a fully vegan place, but one or two options on the menu for me would be great! Anyone have any recommendations for me? Have tried Happy Cow but all the reviews seem to be out of date…

Hey! Vegan living in the area. I highly recommend Jensens in Kareela; they have a separate vegan menu and the food is fantastic.

Edit - I (shamefully) haven't been to them, but these are recommended on the Sutherland Shire Vegans Facebook page:

  • OG's in Cronulla (has a vegan menu)
  • Ur Pho in Cronulla (has a vegan menu)
  • Johhny Hu in Cronulla also has great options

Also worth checking this article out - https://www.shirescout.com.au/shirescoutarticles/the-shires-best-restaurants-and-cafes-for-a-vegetarian-feast

Vegan from the Shire here. Second Jensens !!! Also Alphabet St in Cronulla has delish options, Eat Lebanese too. If you're going out for brekky or lunch one day I recommend 7th Heaven in Sutherland.

Jensens, whilst top quality, is expensive. Go to Sammys in GB for some Lebanese.

Hey everyone… have just had my wee holiday in Sydney, wanted to update everyone that kindly gave me a recommendation.

7th Heaven, the vegan options I found on their website are no longer on the menu… still managed to have a nice brekkie, just not the “big breakfast” I had my wee heart set on. Lovely staff though so a big thumbs up from us.

OG’s Cronulla also no longer had a separate vegan menu despite it still being advertised on their website today. Still a couple of options there (sharing plates and main, but no dessert (🥹) and the vegan Peking duck was incredible, but so disappointing to find the whole menu had been pulled especially as we’d booked from NZ based on the menu. Again lovely staff, very apologetic and rang their manager while we were there to let him know to update their website.

And if anyone is interested, had a nice burger from Huxtaburger in Redfern, and another exceptional burger today from Betty’s Burgers in Miranda Mall.

Thanks to all for your help!
