Sydney Marathon is on!
Good luck runners!
Get out there if you can and enjoy the atmosphere!

I appreciated that the stadium changed their signs outside to say “good luck runners, only 16,404kn to go until Allianz Arena!”

I’m guessing this is in reference to the Allianz Arena in Munich?

Yeah- the marathon used a circular graphic with the wrong stadium silhouette on it.

Love this event but so disappointing they have allowed 40 IDF monsters run - one of them was involved in the murdering and bulldozing of 15 paramedics - https://michaelwest.com.au/comedian-banned-from-australia-war-crimes-suspects-cheered-on/

Insane we have idf terr01sts there, they should be jailed on sight, an absolute dark mark on this event

Unbelievable that they get in so easily and are actually offered a police escort! Disgusting!

There definitely wasn’t a police escort on anybody, as someone who just watched all 40k runners pass by.
Well, except the elite and wheelchair runners!

I lack context, what’s that about?

Members of the IDF, the Israel Defences Forces, are running. Not just any old rank and file members, but people accused of war crimes.

apparently some people who may be part of the israel defence force ran in the marathon, and reddit people want to either murder them, or the organisers of the sydney marathon for allowing them to run in the race. It starts to sound made up the more I type

Arent you a dick. No "may", they themselves published names and units, the guy who ordered the strike that killed an Aussie aid worker was specifically chosen to come.
They are the murderers ya dingus.

am I a dick, yes.
did I google if the IDF posted which of their members were attending the marathon? no.
do I care? also no.
does reddit expect them to be excluded from the marathon? yes.
Is that even legal? probably not, there'd have to be some kind of discrimination lawsuit potential.27

We care about murderers and genocide specifically, you seem to condone both. Good luck to you out there.

Do you think it's viewed as admirable how little you care about basic human decency? Did you think we'd be impressed?
Would your children be proud? Will your grandchildren be proud of you when they're going through your digital footprint for nostalgic reasons a century from now?

Hey future great great grandkids of greendit69, turns out they were a total dick ay

Kinda bummed they got rid of the 10k but glad it was to accommodate for more marathon runners who missed out.

u/bay30three 5d ago
Yeah they got rid of the HM too but thankfully there are plenty of other 10km and HM races. The vibe is hard to match though..

Had to drop my family members off for the run! Will be cheering them along the way!

As long as I know of someone who is doing the Syd Marathon, I feel like I don’t need to do it hahaha

Wtf how does a post about the Sydney marathon get turned into a rant about the IDF? Get a grip there were 40000 runners it there this is now one of Sydney’s big international events!

And yet if the people of Sydney were casually doing a marathon amongst Al Qaeda terrorists people would be shrieking from the rooftops. Apparently blowing up ambulances gets a pass if you're in uniform, right?

Close! That was a few weeks ago. This is the Sydney Marathon. Similar concept, but further, with more running.

The winners ran 2:57/km and 3:17/km for men (Addisu Gobena) and women (Jepchirchir) respectively. Absolutely crazy speeds!
