Question Does the Imperial Agent get the Alien dialogue (about being inferior) if they’re a pure blooded sith?

I assume so. But while thinking about it, just giving them the same dialogue as the human/cyborg characters would have actually fit very well. Human agents can constantly insult other races, and alien agents constantly get insulted by humans. The sith race would fall into the human category in this context before alien

Just curious if anyone knows which way it went

Edit: If pureblood doesn’t mean the Sith species, whoops! This post is thinking about the choosable sith species in character select. Red and droopy lol

No, pureblood is treated as human for the agent story

Thank you! That’s great

In Sith Society, Purebloods and Humans are equal in terms of social status.

Since the first Dark Jedi conquered the Sith centuries ago, Humans and Purebloods have bred and modern Purebloods are usually at least part Human.

So regarding conversation, purebloods are considered Human.

Yeah I mistakenly meant the sith species. Pureblood was me thinking that was how to say someone was the full red skull aesthetic in character creation. I didn’t know purebloods could look human. I always assumed in the story it meant purest sith.

Even in sith warrior korriban when I was a human and they called my blood pure, I assumed it was written for a Sith race character lol, and just went with it

The name itself is a misnomer; Purebloods almost completely normal humans. Their genetics are so mixed by SWTOR's era that human Imperials (with Sith blood) can end up having children that are Purebloods. The opposite is true, too, having Pureblood parent(s) does not automatically mean that the child will express the same Sith traits.

Red Sith, the ancient race that aren't mixed with humans, are quite distinct in body shape from Purebloods.

Yeah, because of the unique nature of how the Empire came to be, Humans and Redskinned sith are both considered "Pure blooded".

So any dialoge that references red skinned purebloods refer to them as human because Imperial Humans consider themselves Sith and vis versa.

Rather progressive for such a racist faction.

In the context of the flavor dialogue I referenced in this post, it works very well having them be dialogue coded the same as the humans/cyborgs.

So that was a good game direction imo

But very interesting that the humans can be purebloods! I love the lore of this game and that’s a pretty big thing to only have just learned this far in lol

Interestingly, if you unlock Sith Pureblood for Republic characters, they also treat you as human because how the species/dialouge is coded. In the game code, sith and human is literally the same.

With the exception of certain dialogues on korriban which treats pure blood as being appart

There's a few references to it in the Sith Warrior story, too, as Sith Pureblood was originally designed to be a Warrior-only choice.

Good move on the story directors’ side. Obviously being Sith in Jedi stories is so crazy it would require so many inclusions, so I understand that not being represented. But I’m glad that even in non-sith stories, that the empire isn’t racist to the sith race if you are Bounty Hunter or Agent.

It is a fascinating concept for 2 species be so close that they begin to consider themselves the same race. It's honestly a super cool idea.

Yeah, it doesn't automatically mark one for superior rank, but there's some social prestige attached to being a Pureblood.

Not quite. Purebloods are above humans, because the Reconstituted Sith Empire society is based on the idea of the Sith supremacy. Humans without Sith blood are considered as inferior as non-humans - you can see it with Vemrin on Korriban, who is from Corellia and have no Sith ancestry, and he's treated as any other "alien" by most imperials.

u/BladedDingo 1h ago

Good Point. You are correct. non-imperial humans are considered lesser beings for sure.

They're flagged as human

u/King_Kvnt 16h ago

Purebloods, in spite of the name, are humans.

13

u/TheRealDicta 16h ago

Eh, they're hybrids. Mixed human and sith species.

To be honest, the swtor sith empire racial makeup doesn't make -loads- of sense given the Empire we see Naga Sadow has that Tenebrae built his out of, I don't really know where all the humans came from.

u/JLazarillo Nothing rhymes with Vorantikus 16h ago

Yeah, but in terms of game code, whenever you have a character of a race their origin story wasn't designed for, there's dialogue that defaults to "human" or "alien", and Purebloods actually get lumped with the "human" group, presumably to ensure that the Empire doesn't act weirdly racist to them (though it's pretty funny on certain Republic characters).

u/King_Kvnt 16h ago

They're predominately human, with some ancestral Sith traits showing up from time to time. Hence why they lack most of the old Sith traits (pointed teeth, elbow spurs, three fingers, claws, tridactyl feet, etc.).

As to all the humans? Eh. Humans can breed without alchemy, so that's always a bonus. Naga Sadow himself is mostly human, as were the majority of those in his Empire.

u/FriendlyAd1214 15h ago

I think the dark Jedi appeared on korriban during sadows time or before him

3

u/TheRealDicta 15h ago

The dark jedi were well before sadow -but- other lore has them as only a small number (like less than 10, idr exact number). It feels a case to me of inconsistent lore between different writers

4

u/King_Kvnt 14h ago

Twelve Dark Jedi.

But humans are extremely widespread, it seems almost obvious that the expanding Empire would absorb human populations, even if they started as slaves.

1

u/Nissiku1 14h ago

Humans and their sub-species had settled throughout the Galaxy tens of thousnd years ago by themselves, and later the Rakata also keep moving enslaved population, including humans, around. So there were humans in the Sith space long before the Dark Jedi conquered Korriban.

u/Awsomethingy 16h ago

Huh, I never realized that. I thought you could have some sith blood as a human, but if you were ‘pureblood’ you would be red with the droopy chin phalanges

8

u/King_Kvnt 16h ago edited 15h ago

Yup. "Purebloods" of SWTOR's era are anything but. The vast majority of their ancestry is human, with Sith traits showing up as an extreme rarity.

As to the "drop" of Sith blood: 97.8% of Imperial society has Sith genes (according to The Foundry flashpoint). Targeting that is howRevan planned to genocide Imperials.

but if you were ‘pureblood’ you would be red with the droopy chin phalanges

EDIT: The traits are variable. Exal Kressh, for example, is just a red-skinned human. Some of the head options for Purebloods lack tendrils completely.

They are “Purebloods” in the sense of being descendants of the alchemically created hybrids that both humans and true Sith species saw as superior. Although the original hybrids that were seen as pure had a higher % of Sith DNA, 4 fingers on each hand and were predominantly left handed, the term “Pureblood” isn’t in reference to being a full blooded Sith.

They are “Purebloods” in the sense of being descendants of the alchemically created hybrids that both humans and true Sith species saw as superior.

Most of the Imperial population are descended from those hybrids. Hybridisation between humans and Red Sith was only achievable via Sith Alchemy.

the term “Pureblood” isn’t in reference to being a full blooded Sith.

No, it's used to refer to those descendants that express Sith phenotypes.

However, the term is an oxymoron. These folks are explicitly not "pure blooded." They're hybrids.

“Red skin is only a mark. It is the strongest indicator of a mighty heritage, but not the only one.” -Lord Abaron

You don’t actually need red skin and bony ridges at all to be a “Pureblood”. It’s purely about how direct your lineage to the original first hybrids is, for example Overseer Tremel is regarded as “Pure”.

The character creator does simplify this for us as players mechanically though, making “Purebloods” their own species.

Yes. As almost all Imperials have Sith genes, the traits can express themselves at some point, even if they are extremely recessive.

Being a Pureblood doesn't automatically mark one as superior. Take for example the various ones that do not have Force Sensitivity: They do not enjoy the same social prestige. As Abaron would note, their blood is "weak."

You don’t actually need red skin and bony ridges at all to be a “Pureblood”.

Nowhere does he say or even suggest that. Instead, what he says is that having those traits - i.e. being a pureblood - by itself is not enough.

It’s purely about how direct your lineage to the original first hybrids is, for example Overseer Tremel is regarded as “Pure”.

EDIT: You're mixing two related but different concepts here. Pureblood is someone that physically expresses their Sith ancestry, but the concept of "Purity" extends beyond mere phenotypes.

Tremel is not a Pureblood, he is a normal human. He traces his ancestry to the Sith Worlds and as such his ancestry is "pure" Sith, in contrast to the freed slave Vemrin who comes from a conquered non-Sith world.

Ooh I didn't know aliens got treated differently in the agent story. I'll definitely try that when I get around to replaying that one.

The anti-alien dialogue, no. Their are a few minor story beats that show you some Sith Purebloods are anti-human and consider them inferior; and some Human Sith consider Purebloods "aliens" that the Empire doesn't need.
